IN OTHER NEWS I'm trying to watch my weight, and discovered there are a lot of entries for Navy galley menu food on the MyFitnessPal app. There's white rice. There's chicken. They even have macaroni with slices of american cheese on top of it that the culinary specialist chief calls "mac & cheese." UHT milk has 36 calories per 100ml serving.

SketchesOfSpain01 posted:medboard Since I am actually on limited duty and being referred to PEB right now, I wanted to be a shipmate and outline what's gonna happen for you if you actually do get "medboarded." Your command doesn't get any say-so on whether you go to a med board. The doctor that put you on limdu, who I will refer to as "your doctor" from here on, and two other doctors (typically the others will be your doctor's department as the Convening Authority and one other doctor assigned to the board by your local MTF) are your Medical Evaluation Board. If your doctor thinks you need intensive treatment or time off sea duty and will maybe get better, he'll put you on limdu with the other members of the Medical Evaluation Board. If your doctor (and/or the other members of the MEB) thinks that you will not likely recover enough to be fit for duty by the end of your limited duty, then they can refer you to the Physical Evaluation Board. You'll be entered into IDES. At that point, you'll get an appointment with a VA Counselor who will file a claim for you. The VA will set up appointments for you to have Compensation And Pension exams for your claimed conditions, otherwise known as "C&P." The findings of these exams and your treatment history will be compiled by your doctor into a Narrative Summary. Along with that, you'll get a Non-Medical Assessment from your command. This is the only input your command gets in the process, and it's a questionnaire/letter from your CO that explains how your condition affects your ability to do your specialty. It's worth noting that if you're on sea duty now, your NMA will be written by whatever command gains you for limited duty orders, so the command you're at now will actually never get any say on where you fall. It's kind of a fun exercise to realize how much your leadership really fuckin cares about you after you got LimDu'd out of their command 4 months ago! they don't The NARSUM, the notes from your C&P exams, and your whole god damned medical record, even printouts from all the electronic crap will be sent to the VA in Rhode Island to have all your conditions rated according to the VASRD. Once the VA rates your conditions, then their findings, your NARSUM and NMA will be sent off to the PEB at the Navy Yard in Washington. They will be the ones who determine whether or not you are fit to continue military service. If they find you Unfit, then you will be assigned a DoD Disability rating - whatever the VA rated your unfitting condition[s], and a VA Disability rating - all of the VA ratings combined. If you are Unfit, DoD < 30%, then you'll be separated with severance, if you are Unfit, DoD >= 30%, then you will be placed on either Temporary or Permanent Disabled Retired List with at least 50% of High 3 retired pay and Tricare. Either outcome of the DoD rating, you still get your VA Bennies, and on top of that, since your claims are already filed and rated, you can start getting your welfare checks right after your EAOS instead of waiting two years or whatever everyone else has to deal with. Everyone keeps referring you to the Milpersman, which will have some good info for you to understand about the administrative side of going on Limited Duty, but what you should really be reading is SECNAVINST 1850.4E, which governs the process. Once you're actually put into IDES, you should be sent to DTAP right away, which will explain all of this in much greater detail, including your chances to appeal for higher ratings, how to be a welfare queen off all this sweet disability cash, and how you can fight to be found fit if you are a retard. From being put into IDES to separating for medical reasons, you are looking at 4-12 months, all told.

Really, REALLY hoping I'm not expected to be a Joe Navy or super sailor type once I arrive in Great Lakes again. Can I make a good impression? hell yes. Can i *keep* that impression going for half a year? we'll see. Still, it's much better then being anywhere resembling a ship or the ocean.

If you're coming up to Great Lakes for an instructor billet, be prepared to take 9-12 credit hours of school per semester while working toward your MTS qualification if you want that EP. I made E-6 up here, but christ is it a circlejerk... I regret everything.

I'm glad I don't give a gently caress about making E-6. Sure the pay would be nice, but it'd be way easier to get out in a few years if I'm still just E-5.

I plan on separating as a satisfied E-5, so i'm not about to go crazy trying to impress people. From what they put the E-6 in Engineering through out here it's honestly the last thing I want to do.

There's also cost concerns at play. Your gaining command probably needs the NEC and got it put into your orders to save them the TADTAR. Schools in the middle of a PCS are pretty routine because it's significantly cheaper to do it en route than it is to get you to the gaining command and then send you off to school.

Our bake sales are the realest because they include Marijuana. Also: you need to of the navy, you try hard.

We did command PT in the shipyard. It wasn't too bad. The lady leading us had a really nice rear end, so I was okay with watching her while I flailed around on the floor trying to exercise. Now that I think about it, we did PT in port, too. My coner roommates ratted me out when I slept in one time.

Mr. Nice! posted:Are they still required to give you a special SP eval? I seem to recall something like that for all PRT failures. No, according to the 1610.1C, Ch.1, Page 6, Paragraph a & b, "no mandated or prohibited trait mark required in "Military Bearing"/"Professionalism" for promotability and/or retention for reporting period in which member's first or second PFA failure in a 4-year period." Emphasis mine. Now when you get into your third within 4-years you get a 1.0 in Military Bearing/Professionalism, SP & Retention Not Recommended. An important note to remember if you are trying to apply for a program and you have since passed a PFA but it is before you periodic. 1610.1C, Ch.3, Page 6, Paragraph b, allows for, "A Special report may be submitted once satisfactory physical readiness is achieved on the most recent official PFA." Emphasis mine again. This has been your periodic please remember to always read and understand the pertinent regs and don't just listen to hearsay. Now, I am going back to drinking and studying for finals.
