Endless Mike posted:You've never heard of one night stands? Sex and intimacy aren't always the same thing. The issue here is that Dorothy doesn't seem to be interested in a relationship with Jane (or anyone?) which can certainly complicate an otherwise non-sexual friendship. Of course I know what one night stands are. I guess I'm not getting the feeling that both of them are treating this as one, though. It seems like they're worried that because they're friends, that getting into a more intimate/sexual relationship will ruin their friendship, and therefore "it is a bad thing". And I guess that's my point of contention, because, at least with my relationship, it worked just fine. And yes, Dorothy might not be interested in taking any relationship further, but it seems to me that she might want to with Jane, but is afraid to. But, I digress, she was drunk at the time, so yeah, there's that.

The panel dividers are syndicate-mandated so that editors can chop up the strips for layout purposes. Brooke wants to go all Bill Watterson on them, but he knows he'll never have that kind of clout so he just draws the strip however he wants and slaps the dividers on top because he is a Fake-rear end Busta Comix. Pooch Café Fish is happiest when the other characters in the strip forget he exists. Ballard Street Kevin posts in the yob.

Teenager #2 discovered this and is now using it as leverage to manipulate Teenager #1 in a wacky sitcom episode that makes light of slavery? There are only two teenagers involved. The deal is that Kelly was so worried about the potential consequences of the Morgans finding out she got her boyfriend (Niki) in for makeouts once when she was (supposed to be) babysitting Sarah that she let herself get blackmailed over it. Eventually she told Niki about this and he immediately went behind her back and passed it on to Rex, who told June, prompting the currently ongoing conversation.

Some Guy TT posted:There are, of course, hundreds of old Chief Dharmas. Haven't decided if I want to translate those, or just move on to something new. For all I know this guy could be starting a new comic next week, or there will be a different comic starting next week, or maybe the Daily Focus has just given up on comics altogether. Or maybe there will be an extended break until they find a new cartoonist they want to devote print space to. I really have no idea. But between this, my 2007 cartoons hitting a Monday, and my having to make a big trip this weekend, I'm not posting any more comics until next week. Please post the old Chief Dharmas! It's by far my favourite strip in this entire thread.

I don't know if we completely ran out, but near the end of it Everett went full-on jingoistic as America entered WWI and folks got all uncomfortable about it. If there are any post-war strips left, ones which don't feature him beating up people for saying stuff like "I'll have sauerkraut on my frankfurter", I'd sure love to see 'em.

Is Batiuk just retrofitting this whole idea of him being a terrible person for DRAMA!, or was that actually the case with the original strip?
