Louis van Gaal has told BBC Sport he wants to become the new manager of Manchester United. "I would love the job," said the Netherlands boss, speaking at the start of a three-day Dutch World Cup training camp. "I hope that I shall be the one."

Hmmmm. Fulham relegation due to removal of Michael Jackson statue - Al Fayed Mohamed Al Fayed has claimed Fulham would not have been relegated from the Premier League if Shahid Khan, his successor as the club's owner, had not removed the sculpture of Michael Jackson from outside Craven Cottage. "This statue was a charm and we removed the luck from the club and now we have to pay the price," Fayed said. "When [Khan] asked me to move it I said: 'You must be crazy.' This is such a fantastic statue which the fans are crying out for. But now he has paid the price because the club has been relegated. He called me because he told me he wanted Michael to return. I told him, no way."

Garry Monk has been given a 3 year contract with (I think) Josep Clotet stepping up to be his assistant. We're going to lose half our squad in the summer and get bummed next season.

With a side dead last in the prem on 1st dec, I think he'll be the third manager to ever avoid the drop in that situation, and the first to finish higher than 17th. Have to agree. If Rodgers had got them across the line then yes he deserves it, but Chelsea and Palace were gently caress-ups and that swings it for Pulis imo. Edit : Where'd all the extra pages come from?

Do you need a FA coaching badge to work? Is it like a UEFA coaching badge for top flight managers? I would think the best thing the FA could do to help the national team in the long run is to work on their coaching courses and get a better training for youth so it's not just about athleticism and speed.

Eric Cantonese posted:Do you need a FA coaching badge to work? Is it like a UEFA coaching badge for top flight managers? Yeah, and there are a few obstacles. I'm currently twiddling my thumbs while I wait out a caution I picked up at 19 to expire next year, then I can go back to working. The real problem with the coaching is something that no footballer has ever pointed out. Put simply, Spain and Germany have about 100x the fully qualified coaches we do. They have UEFA coaches teaching their under-8s. England has people like me and my friends and angry parents. It's a really simple fix: we need a shitload more people who actually have a clue.
