My favorite part of the interview was when she referred to scientists bullying people to their side of the debate. If you show someone evidence for something and say "Hey, look at this! This poo poo is important!" and they just put their hands over their ears, it's not bullying to want to pry their arms off and say "NO. This poo poo is important. Pay attention!" Bill is a patient man, I would of wanted to strangle someone during that. Also loved the "I'm not a denier. Buuuuuuut, I deny everything you just said."

Conservative ideology in general is all about trying to own victimhood despite being the ruling classes. Look at just about everything they complain about and it gets down to them being "oppressed" by someone or something, be it rich assholes comparing themselves to slaves, religious extremists saying that gays marrying affects them, abortion doctors pre-murdering the heroes of the future, businessmen being harassed by environmentalists when they just want to employ people, and racists being victims or hate crimes and being denied their freedom of speech. Literally everything they do is get up on the cross to claim oppression when really it's the freedom to oppress is what they want while also greedily wanting their victims to not be able to so much as complain about it.

In issues like that, it's sometimes effective to frame a challenge so the person puts themselves in someone else's shoes. What if the state didn't recognize your marriage for <whatever bullshit "reasons" they gave you>? A not-insignificant part of conservative thought hinges on never seriously considering someone else's experience.

The strange thing about Sippy Cupp is that she has degrees in art history. I wonder how exactly she went from studying art to being another cookie cutter right wing pundit on television. Anyway, I find it interesting that so many climate change deniers also happen to be doomsday prepper types. There are literally people who listen to Alex Jones or other far right media, buying the freeze dried foods and water purification tablets that they advertise, honestly believing that the world is going to collapse any minute, all while at the same time claiming that climate scientists are too "alarmist." It's just so loving weird.
