For some reason I really like watching these types of videos, if only because half of them are downright entertaining at how shocking they try to be or how badly they might be produced. I don't think I've ever seen a PYF thread like this, so post the ones you really enjoyed watching. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi0XY_DdjWk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNPMYRlvySY "Sensible children; I have no power over them." These two don't beat the Canadian PSA's about abuse which I feel everyone's already seen at some point or another. If you haven't, then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tevkM-vPqLY

Segregation was on its way out by the 50s and there were a bunch of states that had already forbade segregation for schools, so it's not impossible or unbelievable for that film to have a black kid in the classroom. The south was, of course, a hold out and is what most people think of when segregation comes to mind, because it was supported by laws up until Brown vs Board and it took years for it to actually take hold down there. Here is a handy map for the laws prior to Brown http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Educational_separation_in_the_US_prior_to_Brown_Map.svg Sloober has a new favorite as of 14:27 on May 15, 2014 |

Two old PSAs I love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pciD9gd3my0 Perversion for Profit (1965) Did you know that porn is a plot by the commies to destroy American youths? or that weight lifting and fitness mags are a tool gay men use to convert little Johnny to become a cock craving homosexual? If you answered No to either of those questions then this PSA is for you! Speaking of evil homosexuals... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECilAeLLATc Boys Beware (1961) A famous anti-homosexual film that seems to confuse homosexual men with pedophiles. The reason I loves these old PSA is just how extreme they go with their messages. Like in Perversion for Profit they blame porn for like the fall of Rome and the rise of communist ideas. And that they are tools for homosexuals to get teen boys (so in a way homosexuals are commies!) And with Boys Beware, each "case" that is talked about is a case of a pedophile, not a homosexual. but in this film they are one in the same. The creepy part is the narrator who talks about gay men being mentally ill and need to be helped (yes, I know that in that time period the US classified homosexuality as a mental illness). Also how one boy, who was a victim of a pedo, is put on probation... The kid was raped by a pedo and yet he is in trouble. Good message to put out there right? Also thought it was funny that there was a Girls Beware film. but it wasn't about girls being tempted by lesbians, but telling girls to watch out for older boys/men.

I kind of like those old 50s educational films that aim to teach teens about the proper personality traits of 1950's teenagers, and also how to clean themselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvFF9NlRlxQ - Improve Your Personality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtSo0GBX_0g - How to Be Well Groomed ("Sue avoids red nail polish, since it would call attention to her stubby hands.") I'm also looking for a British film that was about what you could do to survive an atomic bomb, but was just grimly honest about your chances. Something like "Bob and Linda built this refuge in their home using the instructions from an official pamphlet. They are protected from the light and heat, but at this distance from ground zero, that means that it will give them approximately three extra seconds of life until the blast wave hits." The anti-Duck and Cover, if you will. I can't remember the name.
