I thought the Hilton parking at least was overnight. I was thinking about buying parking this year, but not if I can't just leave my car sitting there for the week.

Okay so who wants to let me pay to shower in their room, cause I sure as gently caress can't afford the rates this year. Jesus christ it's ridiculous. Last year I was at least able to snag a pretty nice place off Airbnb when I couldn't swing a hotel room, but it looks like everyone caught on and wants $700 a night for their shanty in Imperial Beach.

Well, asked for a refund on my ticket. I'm not gonna make it this year. Too much other stuff to do. And the friend I stayed with in SD moved to San Francisco. She invited me over, so maybe I should think about going to APE in October. Anybody any experience with that convention?

I think in previous years someone mentioned getting a one month membership at a gym near to the convention center being a cheap way to get access to showers. I don't recall the details, though.

Well, no badge resales this year. Not too surprising given how much the con has grown, but I know a few people who will be disheartened anyway. I try to warn people, but apparently people think the popularity and difficulty of SDCC is an exaggeration or something.

Is it possible to refund particular days for badges? Like say you want to not attend Sunday or Thursday. Or at this point are you stuck with whatever you have?

quote:Q: Will the system allow me to purchase multiple permits per day? I realize that this is the stupidest question anyone will read today, but they mean you're only allowed to buy one permit for each of the comic con days per account, not that each account can only pick one of the comic con days to register parking for, right? My brain must not be working right to even think this could be a thing. Also it's my first year trying this and I'm shocked that the convention center parking is the cheapest. I would've figured it would be jacked up sky high since they know it'll sell out no matter what.

Yes, you can buy 1 pass for each day. You can not buy say 10 passes for Saturday and then sit outside and scalp them. I believe the convention center is basically forced by someone (city?) to charge that price.

Last year was pretty similar right? I mean, not in terms of the 5 minute time limit bullshit. More so that the site crashed, and it came back up later that day? Because I remember not being able to buy parking for whatever reason, then I checked back the next day and the good parking was all sold out already.

They changed it to 2:45 quietly, but everyone goonrushed it again and it's dead yet again. They're telling people to change browsers and/or clear their DNS but that's not working. Wheeeeeeeeeee! Edit: poo poo, double post Edit 2: On their Facebook quote:The site is back down. Seems to be some sort of DDoS attack. Their DNS is super hosed because they didn't allow propagation after they spun up their new AWS servers so on top of it being goonrushed, they're hosed across the internet.

Assuming you guys don't need in and out privileges, just park your car in any of the lots that will let you in, for the days you are there, and "lose" your parking stub when it comes time to pay
