I was suggested this series with claims that despite being harem it is good, and would like to be sold on it. What makes it different from other harem drek, I read the first two chapters and found it incredibly generic and not really funny. I really enjoyed TWGOK overall and alongside to the first couple chapters of that, this isn't really comparing favorably.

Manga: The reaction faces, some occasionally funny moments, a certain character named Marika. It's still painfully generic in most other aspects. Anime: A very SHAFT affaire, visually-speaking, which kinda clashes with the overall tone because after a while. The voice actors, however, do a drat good job selling the show. Neither version gets over the fact that it's basically Love Hina 2.0 and there's only so much mileage you can get out of that.

Main character is a Gary Stu and his harem is comprised of women we're repeatedly informed are basically 9s and 10s.

Nisekoi's really generic, dunno who told you otherwise. As far as the harem genre goes it's up there, and it's at least pretty consistently amusing to read, but it's nothing special.

My wife likes to end every night watching something happy, a palette cleanser from whatever drama/action thing we may've watched. Nisekoi is perfect for that - generic in ways, but with fun characters and scenarios.

It's very generic, but it's a fun read and tends to be referred to blush-porn on account of the great reaction faces the mangaka does and SHAFT have done a pretty good job of animating them. Oh, and their anime announcement chapter was pretty clever too it was a parody mini-chapter full of out-of-character head tilts because SHAFT  It doesn't have the same kind of interesting setting as TWGOK but after Marika's introduction to the main cast, the dynamics and character interactions got a lot better.

It's very generic, but capably executed with a minimum of fanservice. It's nowhere near the same class as TWGOK. I read Nisekoi; I anticipated TWGOK.

Honestly quality-wise Nisekoi's pretty good. It's consistently a nice/amusing read (I think the only outright bad bit was the amnesia arc), and it occasionally hits it out of the park (theatre, Chitoge's mom, Raku-sama, Ruru's great-grandfaster). It's still not anything special, but there have been far worse harem comedies.

The moment it all clicked for me is when I realized that this is essentially a gag manga supported by romance shenanigans and not the other way around. Maybe it's self-delusion in effect but when I approach it that way it's a lot more enjoyable. Also last episode was great, Shaft did their usual Shafty embellishment of the play and it was fun.

You're preaching to the minister here, I think the guy who made it is trying to stick to the storyline when he refers to 'skippable chapters'. If anyone here skips anything that wasn't covered in the manga already, then they'd be horrible monsters too. I'm keeping track of it mainly for if I want to do up another mousepad or something from Artscow, Marika's chapters have the best reactions  Here's my current mousepad

Chapter 126 is out. Well things happened in a hurry, that's for sure. So Yui is skipping the romcom song and dance and going straight for the kill. Normally this would be a signal of real poo poo going down but this is Nisekoi so there is an equal chance that this arc ends in a whole lot of nothing followed by 10 more chapters of status quo filler.
