Zoness posted:I believe barring some classes being percentages behind every class is viable endgame in the roles that they are said to be able to do on the official site, although Medic and Spellslinger are IIRC more focused on tank heals while Esper is more of a raid healer. Zudrag posted:Weird, I would have thought with the medic being so mobile they'd be a raid healer. Medic's best described as a melee healer. Best guess at raid role - you'll probably get the best results if you're healing a reasonably-sized cluster of meleers that includes the tank. From experience in dungeons, things get hairy for the medic when you need to run over and heal an esper or spellslinger off in the distance. Those two classes in particular are going to have to be pretty proactive about standing in the heals when medics are healing, come to think of it.

The biggest drawback to scientist imo is that it requires a poo poo-ton of clicking on stuff, which if you want to use Steer and keybind an attack to leftmouse kind of wrecks the whole experience. Hopefully my spellslinger-explorer will be minimally awkward to play that way.

(Reminds me of playing a druid in vanilla WoW, because hey, bears can tank! Yeah, that didn't happen.) From experience in dungeons, things get hairy for the medic when you need to run over and heal an esper or spellslinger off in the distance. When I was running dungeons on the spellslinger in closed beta, I always had Void Slip on my bars. It's probably the most useful button you can have, because you can pop it in a bad situation and just be okay. If you're a medic and the spellslinger in your group is about to die, it's pretty much entirely on them to get to where the healing is, don't go chasing them down because you probably won't catch them if they're really dodging. Between Void slip and Gate, there's basically no reason they can't make it over to your healing poo on the ground. The one thing I'm not sure of about void slip is whether or not a healer can target you while you're slipped out. It seems to remove you from everything for the duration, and you can't actually see anything while you're void slipped, so I don't think the healer can target you with heals, so if you have a dot and are about to die void slipping probably isn't your best option.

I just want to say an personal thank you to the people that made this game possible!! Really, thank you!! This game has kept me soooooooooooooooo' busy thinking, that I have not even have had the chance to be really sad over really anything. I am not going to say that this game has CHANGED my life in any huge way but this game sure has been an huge haven to put my energy into. I got a strong feeling that this game will be even MORE BIG than games like World Of Warcraft!! Honestly, I bet this game HAS changed SOME people's lives hugely in some way or another..like, I saw that this game has kept a mother occupied allowing her less time to aimlessly worry about her son going off to war. Even if this whole game somehow tanks for some odd reason, I am happy that I have had the chance to be a part of beta and stuff!! I think this will be my longest post on here yet, that is how much I am thankful to all of the Devs' and everyone that made this game even POSSIBLE. Some people may say this is just a simple game but I highly disagree. Soon, this MMORPG will officially become live and I am just simply excited to see where everything leads from there. I honestly predict bright things for this game's future, thank you.. I could honestly go on & on ALL day and night about how/why I am thankful to the people that made this game but I think you all got the point and plus I think things that are short and sweet are always better personally. CHEERS!! Are you thankful to NCSOFT/Carbine for any reason, fellow members?? Why or why not???? Please be respectful!!

The Stalkers "low armor" and "high deflect" bars just make me think they'll be a horrible thing to heal in raid instances. Just the fact that their HP bars probably don't move 87% of the fight and then basically the RNG kills them instantly with 2 unlucky hits back to back that actually happen to connect. Yep I'm gonna play a Stalker tank.

Agreed. Anyway, if ya'll want to get a good idea of what classes get what sorta things, go here for a character builder. Lot of useful information here from tooltips... even though it's not all right (a LOT of the AMPs information is especially wrong; mostly the formulas for what they scale on rather than the description). Keep in mind that you can only have a few Tier 8 abilities (16 points), but up to 6 Tier 4 abilities (8 points) on your bar, with a few points to spare elsewhere.

For spergs like me who like to do specialized healing and have done it in bleeding edge content in previous games and have bizarre preferences it can be kind of a big deal. Melee and Ranged DPS have nuancey things like cast time, disconnect handling, etc that isn't immediately obvious but comes up in endgame. And yes, numbers tweaks can fix some of these issues but if a class is missing a particular tool immediately it's usually not something a numbers tweak is going to fix. I don't tank but tanking threat generation range and availability of cooldowns is usually a relevant thing too. But these are variables that the spergiest minmaxers look at.

What maybe worries me more is potentially having to stand halfway inside the boss's hitbox just so emission reaches the tank on the other side. Then with Spellslinger it's about having to micromanage spellsurge and precharged abilities in order to heal effectively, and with Esper having to be careful about pooling up Psi points to generate enough burst at the right time. They all have different challenges and seem cool and I don't know what to pick!!

It really feels like in this game that not dying is about 90% your own responsibility. Yes, the healer is necessary, but the old adage "you can't heal stupid" seems to be doubly true for this game. If someone refuses to get out of telegraphs, they will die. There seems to be little you can do as a healer to save someone who refuses to help themselves. I like that, but I can see where it could be frustrating as a healer.
