I am sorry DS1 was hard for ya. I just remembering giving every demon a Bufu and Garu skill and suddenly watching entire boards clear. Which reminds me I gotta go finish getting the other 5 endings.

The escort missions were bullshit, and the Overclocked 8th day battles were pretty tough. I think the game has one of the stronger end-game difficulties than a lot of SMT games of its era.

If you're keeping pace with cracking skills by then you should have Holy Dance and Drain. I'd recommend using them, ideally on Kazuya.

I don't remember much in the way of escort missions, though it's been forever since I played, and it's just vanilla DS1. Never got to try Overclocked. I got Amane's ending my first go around, and found a line of untranslated text in my second. it's during a talk with Haru somewhere between day 2-4. Can't remember where exactly right now. Loki and Ameterasu literally murder everything in one turn.

Extreme corset action!
Just finished Eternal Punishment. Really liked it overall, but it seemed to drag on even longer than Innocent Sin did. Probably a result of the final two dungeons both being "here's 6 or 7 smaller dungeons stapled together with a hub area!" After completely trivializing the last segment of the game with Tetrakarn/Makarakarn, I'm wondering why Atlus decided to make them affect the whole party in the PS2 games...

Persona 2 cast included the P1 cast after character development , so that's basically saying that water is wet.

Music is more up for debate, although I won't oppose you there. ~Change you way...~

That was only for P3. In P4 tetra/makarakarn only affect one person per cast.

Ah, thought he was just talking about persona.

Speaking of which, I'm at the beginning of P1P now. I'll see why you all hate this game so much soon I guess, although it seems ok so far. There's some dumb stuff like weird attack ranges and obtuse fusion but I'm still having fun. But seriously why does Maki's gun have worse range than her bow? She can't even use her gun from the back 3 rows.

I would complain about all the spinoffs but I thought Arena was a solid fighter, Arena 2 is looking good, and Persona Q looks really good as well.

I know there are some people who were importing, does anyone have impressions on it yet? At least it's more Persona to tide us over before Persona 5 comes out in English in 2017

It's not like you could see it anyway. The biggest issues with that game to me were the endings (and getting the one you wanted, though I lucked into the one I wanted on the first try), the map, and the Fiends. The story was pretty stupid, too, but it's really only there as a pretext for the dungeons so whatever.

Seriously though gently caress the Fiends in SMT4.

I liked the SMT4 story. The worldbuilding was done really well I thought, and it was refreshing to have an SMT game where the world "ended" but people got on with their lives anyway. The endings are a bit too abrupt but I find that's a problem with EVERY SMT game that isn't Persona. The Devil Survivor 1 endings were all TERRIBLE and like, a couple of dialogue lines long which is probably why they could claim they had 7 of them. Some of the paths were even virtually identical.

The map was terrible, I will continue pretending the Fiends never exist because I spent 2 hours trying to get a single one to spawn then gave up

You just have to accept incredibly shallow combat and a really stupid spell loot system where abilities need to be grinded out or found on random enemy drops. Not the best thought out persona-like, but not the worst.

So basically Final Fantasy VIII? Or do you buy personae for loot cards, like in P2? I have played maybe half an hour of Persona 1 before I gave up due to the translation and the arcaneness of positioning in battle, this is a legitimate question.

(Disclaimer: I really liked the ideas behind FF8's combat and GF systems, but the execution was pretty bad, grindy, and hilariously easy to break. I still had fun with it when I first played.)
