I meant Cyanide. I'm not nearly as against Chorfs as regular Dwarves. Also, ya'll need to get Grab on the Wight. Keep he's still 4 ST, we have more important wolves to replace. Buy a drat Cheerleader already!

The flesh prince played pretty badly during most of his career. The flesh prince is a waste of TV. Starting with two flesh golems is a questionable choice anyways. A Zombie has AV8 for a lot less TV. But most of all I want to see a star player or wizard or something at some point during this LP and now sounds like a great time. So, Let's give another zombie a chance to shine by Firing the Flesh Prince. I'm still voting to Save money for a wolf though. namad fucked around with this message at 11:07 on Jun 8, 2014 |

Grab allows us to position stuff so we can surf it! Grab allows us to ignore sidestep on annoying elves! A Vote for Grab is a vote for victory! Also buy a Cheerleader because eheheh, we can make you buy a cheerleader. Edit: Keep TFP, but only until we can afford to replace him. (More edit: that means after we replace all our dead wolves.) Veloxyll posted:I meant Cyanide. I'm not nearly as against Chorfs as regular Dwarves. Ah, misunderstood you then. Another team that could maybe use with replacement on that list is Humans for [a little more spice: Norse or Amazons] or [baller: Lizardmen or Necromantic]. Mostly because vanilla humans are pretty dull, even if they got all the basic blood bowl flexibility a decent team should have. That and having both Humans and Bretonnians, without any Undead or other weirdies is even duller

Just FYI, when we reach the point where we have the money to replace the Flesh Prince and no other pressing player replacement to do, I'll put up another vote to fire him and buy a new flolem or not. Hopefully by then he will have proven himself as a valued contributor to the team and all-around cool guy e- May as well do a vote tally as well Dr. Wight Level Mighty Blow - 17 Guard - 8 Strong Arm - 1 Sure Hands - 1 Grab - 2 The FP Status Keep - 22 Fire - 1 What To Buy Next Wolf - 22 Cheerleader(s) - 3 Roll Skulls? Roll Them - 1 Don't - 1 Let's go ahead and call it for TFP and buying Wolf #2. I could probably call it for Dr. Wight's level as well but there's always the chance Guard could make a comback by the time voting actually closes GNU Order fucked around with this message at 17:51 on Jun 8, 2014 |

jBrereton posted:Humans are a team that can be loads of stuff, Zons are dull as dishwater, and I wouldn't put them in a game where 1/8 of the teams available are Dwarves. That's just mean. Are GW still developing Blood Bowl/new versions? Some of these teams have been "questionable" for a long drat time and could use either another positional/big guy or some skill changes. Last time I was interested in GW stuff in the mid 00 it didn't seem like they were doing much outside their main wargaming lines though. Since then there's only been a boardgame or two released (not made by GW though, right?). If the wiki is anything to go by there hasn't really been any big changes since... 2007? (The answer is that GW turned into a soulless, shambling, money-sucking zombie sometime during the 90ies)

Once the technology matures you'll just have people selling model data files, and people pirating the same. But it's not there yet. edit - They also have limitations on shapes you can model. There are things that injection moulding will always be better at.

GW makes a ton of money coming up with the models. Actually producing them and selling the physical good probably isn't that big a deal. Either 3d printing will kill them, OR explode their profitability as they sell the data files for full price and don't actually have to spend money on production. It's not like piracy instantly killed record labels or hollywood.

Fat Samurai posted:Why sell 13 minis to a player when you can sell them 50? Because no matter how much they have jacked up the prices on their models, people still buy them. If a small number of people spend a large amount of money then it will keep the company above water, for now.

Considering the price premium (increase) of those little plastic mans in the last decade or so I'd say they are making a load of their profits from selling the actual pieces. How would it even work for them to only sell the designs/schematics? First couple of serious dozen dudes (or a hundred, whatever) with big 3D printer gear would buy that poo poo and then print out like a million plastic mans and run their own little middle-hand warehouse+retailing shops, eliminating any "premium" price difference through competition between themselves if nothing else. Unless you mean that GW would somehow be able to collect a royalty for each mans produced? que £20 premium per man sold + yearly license fee and oh my god pirates are sinking this poo poo and keelhauling the CEO

They'd sell personal print licenses, not for resale. Lots of things are labeled not for resale. If people open a big profitable businesses reselling things printed with the non-resale license then they sue them and take all the profits. It's like letting a movie theatre play a movie. Or well any business really? If a guy shares a couple with his mates though, oh well that's just what they've got to suffer in the modern era of 3d printing, it's certainly not an instant death sentence? Or heck, lots of digital media like DVDs have drm, maybe by law at some point some idiotic congressman will make it illegal to sell a 3d printer without a built in drm-encryption lock (just like how there is a law that passed that made selling proper unlocked dvdplayers illegal). Region locked dvdplayers are a sin against nature, similar idiotic ideas might keep GW afloat? Or who knows maybe 3d printers won't ever catch on? People often buy plenty of things they can make themselves.

Are the models GW comes up with so unique? For popular computer games, there are modding communities who produce absolutely mindblowingly detailed 3D content, lots of those featuring themes like armor and weapons and battle people. For free. I would have thought one could eventually take one of those if they wanted to (low enough poly for the printer to handle it at the desired scale), pose the skeleton and press go.

Piracy is yet to wreck a single industry, so I'm guessing GW will survive 3D printers. I think I'm the only player more succesful at defense than offense, at least with my Dark Elves. It seems that every time I attack my opponent get's an extra turn and wrecks my guys before they can do anything, but on defense I manage to recover the ball quite often. That's making my team pretty unbalanced, with 3 guys at level 3 (blitzers and a lineman that keeps getting MVPs), one at 2 (a runner with STR 4 who is going to become my dedicated ball recoverer n defense and will never learn a pass skill) and the rest at 1. Another problem is that I'm at 1200 TV and don't have any Witch Elves yet. I started with 4 blitzers, 1 Runner and the rest linemen, and deaths are forcing me to buy extra linemen. I'm at least two good matches away from a WE. What's the proper attack strategy for a DE team? I'm mostly running the sides with light screens rather than cages, trying to keep one or two guys as possible receivers, but I'm finding I don't have enough Strengh, skills or movement to move easily.
