How feasible is it to fly a B-52 with a shitload of bombs? I've been meaning to make it to a couple of games but other things have been getting in the way.

100% doable. I've done it a few times offline in fact :P

You'll have to make do with the F16's sensors/optics for setting up the attack though.

That's fine, I've always been really interested in bombers so I'd love to try it out.

If your doing the campaign updates, a few suggestions:

Add a Mirage Squadron to Seosan,
Add an F15 squadron to Seosan.

Both are flyable with a decent cockpit and the mirage is ramp startable. Could make for a nice mixup for those willing.

Also, B52 Escort missions are the bomb. We'll have our hands full with SEAD and Escort duties with BUFFs.

Should we give the DPRK some stuff?

So last night I briefly flew over North Korea in an EF-111A and thought it seemed like I was invulnerable, but then this morning I was trying to read more about how the ECM flights work while a player is flying and some BMS guys said it doesn't work when a player is in control of the plane.

Well I just tried in a TE and approached an SA-10 at 40k feet and got this picture

So yes EF-111A does work for jamming while being flown by a player. There are some quirks to it though.

"JDAMs at high speed"

Something just randomly came to mind with the talk of JDAMs and those B61s. There was a tactic employed by SAC medium bombers carrying those things to basically lob them into a target zone by pulling an Immelmann and releasing the bomb at 45 degrees. They did that partly because the high speed of the bomber carrying it allowed it to throw it a fair distance to avoid the blast. It then occurred to me that you could probably do the same thing with some JDAMs at mach 2 and keep clear of areas with heavy AA. Anyone ever tried this?

You can use CCRP for toss bombing. It works pretty well. With the JDAMs you can use the ripple qty 4, impact spacing 999 ft and cycle steer points to throw 4 JDAMs on 4 different (nearby) steerpoints with a toss bombing.

If you have the Ducats for a Warthog get a Warthog. I went from an X52 to one and it was a complete game changer for me.

The wife may strangle me but thats how I was leaning. X-55 looks pretty, but I've seen people with issues. Wondering if its isolated incidents, or common problems. Its been mostly key ghosting, or keystrokes not saving properly through the Saitek software. Other thing I've heard is the X-55 not working in BMS. Just wondering if Goons had one and had issues with it. Especially with it being a Benji or two cheaper

You have the opportunity to take a one way trip with a crew of ~20 to Mars. You'll be supplied, sent food and equipment once you land.
But you might never come back. You might never talk face-to-face with anyone from back home again. You might die on a cold, dusty rock.

Do you go?
In my curiosity, I was looking around for a peripheral to simulate the ICP in Falcon, because I'd really like to be able to operate that quickly while looking at other stuff in the cockpit, and I found this (requires BMS forum login): Smartphone/Tablet ICP + Radio

Looks pretty cool, but I haven't actually tried it out, so no quality guarantees. I'll give it a try tonight. Looks like some people's don't work straight out of the box, but they have to reconfigure the keys.

The Cougar, predictably, is perfect for BMS.

Out of curiosity, have you found one at a reasonable price? I was looking around recently and they appear to be selling for roughly the same amount as a Warthog at this point.

There has been a few lurking around at the $350 mark. But if I was going that route I would get a modded one with the Hall Effect Sensors and the spring mod for 1k

Edit: I did like my CH stuff, but I had config issues with it in F4:AF, but I think part of it was because I'm a stupid newbie. I'm on the line of if I'm shelling out, do it once, and enjoy it. Right now I'm leaning heavily to the Warthog stick, but I want to see how the x-55 rhino plays out, because initial reports love it but the few issues that are popping it up keep leaning me back to the warthog.

Edit 2: Plus with the x-55 i can delay the rudder pedals. Even though the CH ones are dirt cheap.

You can get a force sensitive sensor mod for the warthog now which probably makes it the best stick out there if you are going that route.

The warthog throttle works well enough in BMS w/morphine's profile. I was talking last night about moving the antenna elevation from the slider to the coolie hat which I may try to set up.

I'm nowhere near advanced to that point yet, I'm lucky I don't break poo poo when I land still. :P

I just never knew anyone that I normally played online with to go out and actually make it worthwhile to learn/play with at a decent level other than dicking around and blowing up stuff in instant action. Lo and behold I start digging deeper in the games forum instead of the usual MMO forum I sift through and came upon this and was like oh hell yes. I've wanted to get deeper into the sims, just never had the right motivation until I popped in here last night and spent 7hrs going through 32 pages of posts and baby duty :). Its like holy poo poo, flight sims with goons, this is going to be fun. MMO's have gotten redundant and same regurgitated poo poo, so I was looking to get back into getting into sims because I love playing poo poo, just didnt have like minded people that play the same poo poo usually. And the forgiveness/comedy level of goons is what brings the fun out of mistakes, and you learn a ton of poo poo at the same time because in the end, its just pure fun.

That, and I can't wait to get enough skill to do poo poo like this.

Tomorrow BMS Gooncalypse Campaign starts at 9pm EST, 6pm PST, 3am[thursday] Central european time.

I have nothing else to do and I host anyway. Depending how many people show up earlier, we might just do some light CAP and defensive missions and go balls-deep later when more people pop in.

I will anyways sit here for loving forever, so no reason to artificially postpone something.

Just flying with other goons and asking questions (not during the campaign). We did a few nights of "flight instruction" a few weeks ago and maybe we can get something like that going again.

Tonight at 10pm EST, I am holding goon flight school for BMS in Mumble.
If you need to learn your basics in F16, now it is time for that.

Come prepared with the basic buttons mapped, please. See the Falcon OP.
If you did your due diligence though and just could not do it, fine, we shall help.

Anyone willing to co-teach is also appreciated to lower some workload and work more on individual problems.

Tonight's instruction should enable you to take part in the campaign tomorrow evening.
