I remember skimming it ages ago so I'm going off of bad memory but it seems to be the worse part of fan culture. Awful/gross cosplayers, creepy semi-nude figurines, dumb memes and videos, that kinda poo poo. At least that's what I got from the youtube previews, the secondhand shame was too much to bear.

It definitely focuses on the bad parts of the fandom, but in that regard it may as well be a feature on Otaku in general. Border of Ecstasy, Innocent Key songs, and they spend like half the video talking to some fat dude dressed as Patchouli (who calls himself Cirno).

I really like ~xi-on~. Yeah it's basic butt-rock, but I'm into that sort of thing. Whenever I think about my idea for a Touhou-meets-Dynasty Warriors fangame that'll never be made, ~xi-on~ would be the obvious choice to do the soundtrack.

For the fandom in general, it's something called MMD. It was some sort of Miku dancing program that turned into animation 3d software of some sorts? It's easily accessible and usually the one with the worst looking models since it doesn't really take much effort to find or use.
As for the rest, I have no idea. There's probably some general expensive programs somewhere or maybe it's even custom, but I doubt they all use the same thing. Like, I don't know if it's effort or just different software but RWBY and minust's stuff don't feel really comparable. Sure the latter's not the greatest thing ever but it's kinda crazy and how closely he imitates the original patterns in 3D space.
