I rented a movie on VHS from a library in Alameda Co CA. The movie was about a trip to the center of the earth via the North Pole and it involved old footage of polar explorations. It started out with a person interviewing a survivior of the expedition. The interviewer rode his bike to the interview.

There was a lot of old footage along with the dialog. It involved the killing of a polar bear off the ship. Two people walked into a red horizon in the end. The title from what I remember was Journey to the Center of the Earth. I think it was a foreign broadcast and it was one of the first fake documentaries.

The folk myth of the boiling frog (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_frog):

"The boiling frog story is a widespread anecdote describing a frog slowly being boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death."

This has been mentioned in some movie or TV show, but I can't remember what. The Wikipedia article mentions Dante's Peak, An Inconvenient Truth and The Story of B, but I'm not thinking of any of those. Anyone recognise it?

My parents are looking for a film they saw once. By their estimate, it was definitely before 1995, and most likely before 1990. The plot was about a court worker (district attorney? Or someone else in the court, but not a lawyer I believe) getting angry at lawyers getting criminals off the hook and going vigilante to kill them.

It's not Night Falls on Manhattan.

Does anyone know anything of the sort? I've stumbled upon a few films that were close, but not that one. Thank you in advance.

EDIT: It's not The Star Chamber either, those two were the ones I found myself but weren't it. Thanks though.

I'm trying to find the title for one a friend was telling me about earlier today.
The movie is possibly Swedish, or made somewhere in that area, and it involves Stockholm Syndrome with the victim being a pizza delivery girl.
Other than that, I was given no other details.

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. The Swedish filmmaker Stieg Larson made an internationally famous series of films in which the female main character lived on frozen pizza.

My mother won't let me grow a goatee.
This was something I saw on Cinemax or hbo as a kid. A family had a guest over and he was really menacing toward them. There was a scene where their teen son was in a hot tub and the guy got in and I think it was very heavily implied he rapes him?

It was very traumatic for me.

I realize this might not be the perfect thread for my question, but I figured it's the most appropriate:

Some friends of mine are trying to get funding for a film, and they want to use clips from existing movies to illustrate certain parts of the story to the moneymen. They're looking for a scene with a young man packing his things to get ready for college - there's a scene in The Kids are Alright that's almost perfect except that it's a girl. We've already checked stuff like The Motorcycle Diaries, Elizabethtown, Into the Wild, Eat Pray Love, The Darjeeling Limited, American Graffiti, Up in the Air, Revenge of the Nerds, Perks of being a wallflower, American Pie 2 etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Alright, so there's this movie I remember from way back when I was a kid. It was some kind of horror movie about a dead baby ghost, and there was something about it just wanting to sleep - they called it "sleepyhead" or something.

Anyway, so near the end of the movie they're trying to trap this ghost, and they use ground up monkey bones on it, because that's supposed to induce sleep. But it gets all pissed off and shakes the dust off on the cast, making them get sleepy. Then some woman starts singing a lullaby, and the big baby ghost turns into a regular-looking little boy and goes to sleep.

I've been remembering this movie for years, but I can't find any kind of information online about it.

Also there's another thing that's been buggin' me for ages too. There was some show or something where a little old lady took her dog out into the woods and these little goblin things lived in a big dirt mound. They stole knitting needles and killed the little white dog with it.

I posted this a few years back but never got anywhere. I would have thought the scene was pretty unique so I'm going to try again. It was rented on VHS sometime in the early to mid 1980's. Basically the scene was of some kind of satanic ceremony. There is a lot of satanic symbolism obviously (5 pointed star with a goat's head superimposed etc). A young female in a nightgown is the focus and is in chains. Then a goat is brought in to defecate on a silk pillow. The young female then is made to eat the 'product' which as far as I remember abruptly ends the scene. The whole thing may or may not have been a dream sequence I seem to remember some fog throughout and surreal shot angle changes. Outside of Salo that theme seems pretty rare and I wouldn't recommend to much googling for such things for obvious reasons. Ideas?

I feel like I know this is easy but I can't put the right verbage into Google to get my answer. Man (I think a Cop). offers a woman gum, she says no and he continues to hold it in front of her without saying anything. Then he tells her that he can tell someone will crack under pressure if they take the gum. Later on in the movie, he does the same thing to another woman, she nervously laughs and eventually takes the gum from him.

I had a dream that felt really familiar, and I think it was a film that I saw at some point.

Aliens have taken over the world, and the story revolved around a family in china. Set in the 80s, real heavy totalitarian themes. No music, no movies, ect. Aliens are everywhere as guards and "police," but kept under a huge, heavy suit of armor so you never see them.

I forget everything else that happened, but it ends on a reveal that there were never aliens. At the end one of the family got black bagged, and the ending was a montage of him being processed and trained. Credits rolled as they finish being brainwashed and suited up to patrol the street. The Chinese government made some advancements, developed lasers, power armor and poo poo, and ran with it.

1. A black and white english language film about a comedian who gains mass popularity, starts hocking some miracle pills, snags a Mexican (?) wife, but in the end has a meltdown, marked by a scene where he's alone with a studio laugh machine. Saw this maybe eight years ago.

2. Never saw this one but my father descried it to me. A 1970s Japanese psychological horror film, marked by rape, incest, and an inevitable literal hell for the characters for these actions. In hell, there's this scene where the characters have to walk over a mountain of spikes, complete with repeatedly loving over the audience by closing up on their footsteps.

I had a dream last night about a movie that I saw a few years ago on TV, and now I really want to watch it again. It was definitely Canadian-made, and I remember the hero and his sidekick were both drug addicts, and the hero had a girl friend who had a great skill (singing?) and I believe she was a prostitute. At one point in the film the two guys go to some teenager's house and steal his grandpa's $100 or something. The main villains are trying to summon some demon using the girlfriend I believe? At the end of the movie after the conflict is finished, the two main dudes are chillin with the grandpa, who has a bong shaped like a garden gnome or some other novelty object.

If anyone can help me identify this movie, I would be very grateful.

This is less a 'identify a movie' and more a 'identify an actor' but it's been bugging me all morning. I'm trying to remember the name of that old Southern actor who talks with a kind of unusual voice, almost like a loud...rasp, maybe. Not exactly like the whistle that Howard Morris used for Gopher, but not entirely unlike it. He was in a bunch of Westerns, I'm sure of it. It's not Andy Devine, nor Slim Pickens. Any ideas?
