He dug it up because his mother was French Algerian, I think, or at least a Frenchwoman from French colonial holdings in Africa. Like, before I learned that, I just thought he was being run of the mill "brown people have funny names, check out this guy macaca" but he probably learned the word from his mom.

Also despite being born and raised in California George Allen is a MASSIVE Confederacy fetishist, so, yeah, he's racist as hell.

There has definitely been some NWO! AGENDA 21! :freep: argle-bargle about soccer on Freep before. If I remember correctly most of it was actually during the Micheal Sam hysteria and not the World Cup. Most of the Freep World Cup threads have just had the standard "watching the pitch grow was more exiting than the actual game" type trolls.

I don't know that anyone takes cues directly from Limbaugh anymore either. He's basically fallen in line with the RW blog swamp and is just another booster for whatever bubbles up from there. You can tell from his transcripts that he desperately wants to be the originator of the next Agenda21 ACTION ALERT because he's constantly just making up grievances or conspiracy theories on the fly (i.e. the time he rode to the defense of Kony and the LRA based entirely on the word "lord" in their org's name and his producers had to jump in and rescue him). His rhetorical skill at that sort of thing and his brand recognition are his saving graces but he's not driving the bus anymore.

But I haven't seen him deploy one of these unilaterally for a long time. If there's someone with a speck of dust on them worth hating, the blogs, twitter and email chains will have sent out the lightning response hate squads before Limbaugh can even get on air. They used to have to apologize to him personally because he was distributor of materials, the mouthpiece for the base and decider of who got bum-rushed, now it's a lot more organic and I don't think he can (credibly) claim credit for a call out anymore. He does a lot less distributing (have you heard about this one folks?) and a lot more punditry/freeform hate-jazz now.

FReep is hopping mad over McDaniel losing to Cochran, and they're certain that it was all a plot against the Tea Party.

quote:

BREAKING: McDaniel Supporters Barred From Reviewing Voter Rolls in Three Mississippi Counties

Breaking– The Chris McDaniel campaign identified multiple Mississippi counties in which enough improper ballots were cast that a legal challenge to the outcome of the election is warranted. This comes after 25,000-35,000 Democrat votes helped push Thad Cochran to victory over Chris McDaniel (by 6,880 votes) in the June 24 runoff.

The McDaniel campaign has already found 1,000 examples in one county of Democrats who voted in the June 3rd primary as Democrats and then crossed over into the Republican primary this week. This is illegal and their votes should not be counted.

Update—– Lindsay Krout, an independent contractor working in Mississippi, was barred from reviewing voter rolls in Lafayette County Mississippi Friday morning.

Basically McDaniel bullishly demanded that his people be let in to re-count the ballots and cross-check voter rolls, the counties in question told them to cram it up their rear end.

There are all sorts of wailing going on:

quote:

To: blueyon
I think if you are caught and proven as an illegal voter your voting privileges should be either removed or suspended for the next election.

The Battle of Athens that he's talking about is a revolt by the citizens of Athens, Tennessee in 1946 against a corrupt city/county government led by a group of WWII veterans. On election day there were several voting irregularities and the sheriff's department tried to make off with the ballot boxes. The GI's ended up in a firefight with the sheriffs and secured the ballot boxes. The corrupt local government was voted out and a new government voted in. Hallmark made a movie about it a while back. Right-wingers like to fantasize about pulling that off again, but with all of the bloody MRAPs that the government has handed out after Iraq it'd be a suicide mission.

The Secretary of State is a Cochran supporter. I can see redacting SSN, but not address. I further have to wonder why SSN is printed in the poll book in the first place. That seems to be risking ID theft. What is the function of SSN in the poll book?
Going in as a citizen has the same issue - the SoS is trying to prevent ID theft, and ordering no access to the poll books until they can be redacted of SSN and address information.

Constitutional conservatives have given a lot of money to TeaParty groups and the Conservative Republican Senate Committee (or whatever they call themselves). They've used it to fund some candidates of questionable campaigning skill and/or true commitment to our values.

What's my point? They should be spending EVERY drat CENT they already have to fund this legal challenge!

If Mississippi has a law that bars felons from voting, there might be several thousand demonrats stricken from the voting rolls in Nov.

I said that we should support the winner, unless I don't like the result.

I was one who originally said we should support the winner, no matter what.

But now that Tea Party leaders are showing up dead and voting rolls are being hidden... I can no longer endorse such a strategy.

The GOPe has declared war on conservatives in Mississippi, and even though I live in Texas they are risking losing my vote here with this nonsense!

FReepers like to add delenda est whether it's appropriate or not. Usually they say dumb poo poo like, "Islam delenda est!!" The phrase itself is a diminutive of a longer line that Cato the Elder used to add to the end of any speech that he made "Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam" or "Furthermore, I consider that Carthage must be destroyed". FReepers think that it makes them sound educated and uncompromising, but the way that they use it is so bass-ackwards retarded that I usually laugh at them instead.

104 posts on, someone bothers to read the law and speaks sense in FReeptown:

This is a salacious headline and does our side no good. (That’s not directed at you. I’m just pointing it out in general.)

The circuit clerk must, by law, redact SSN and DOB from the pollbooks before providing a copy to the public. (I read MS election code on pollbooks for a long time last night.)

The supporters were not “barred” from seeing the pollbooks. They were told to come back when the clerk had had time to redact the data.

Could the clerk be taking her sweet time? Sure. Did she refuse to provide access? No. There’s enough about this race to be enraged over without this type of hype.

The problem with Lafayette County is that there were only 900 people voting in the Dem primary last month. However, Cochran’s vote total in that county increased by 40% between the two elections, which yielded a 700-vote increase over McDaniel.

There's enough third party talk in this thread to make me hope that it's infecting the right-wing base, but I know they'll all just vote GOP in the fall.

What good will a Republican Senate be if it is run by the same crowd in power now? Face facts. The Republican party is not a political alternative to the Democrat party. It is the same bunch of corrupt cowards in both parties.
I firmly believe a third party based squarely on the Constitution can come to power in one cycle. All it takes is 50 million fed up citizens ready and willing to vote the crooks out. We have that and more.

I will NOT be voting for John Cornyn ever again.

Cornyn is a lying hypocrite who votes with Democrats when it counts and then lies about it! He's part of the GOPe who helped to steal this election.

I'll not be an enabler to the corrupt GOP establishment that puts their power above their party and their voters.

Someone else tries to bring sanity to the thread and quotes the relevant law:

quote:

To: Viennacon
Mob? We're not democrat thugs.
It wouldn't help anyway. The clerk did not bar anyone. She said she needed time to redact the DOB from the pollbooks before she could provide copies. She's required by MS election code to redact that data.

Mississippi Election Code 23-15-165
(6) (a) Social security numbers, telephone numbers and date of birth and age information in statewide, district, county and municipal voter registration files shall be exempt from and shall not be subject to inspection, examination, copying or reproduction under the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983.

(b) Copies of statewide, district, county or municipal voter registration files, excluding social security numbers, telephone numbers and date of birth and age information, shall be provided to any person in accordance with the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983 at a cost not to exceed the actual cost of production.

Attorney General Opinion #2000-0112.

Any and all requests for access to or copies of county voter registration records must be made to the county registrar, and it is the duty and responsibility of the county registrar to insure that voters' social security numbers, telephone numbers, and dates of birth and age information are excluded prior to granting access or providing copies of such records.

Or maybe they voted against the guy who made a keynote address at the Sons of Confederate Veterans conference every year:

quote:

To: Artcore
It sounds like 25 or 30k black democrats in Mississippi did something they didn’t want to do the other day. They voted for an old white guy who is bound to have been a racist at some point in his life, and may still be for all I know. BUt they showed up and voted for him because they did not want the tea party candidate who would no doubt support a smaller government (and that means less handouts). They voted for someone they probably hate, because they had an agenda. Our agenda has to be 1) don’t elect democrats. 2) don’t elect establishment republicans. And I believe that has to be the priority as well.

Cochran is a RINO, only Democrats vote for RINOs, therefore all of the people who voted for Cochran are Democrats.

I couldn't find any great sources for Virginia primary turnouts so I originally tossed this out but now I'm like gently caress might as well just bang it out...

One wikiplace said in between 08 and 12 it was about 24% turnout for the primary, 47% for the general and the total votes in the gen were around 650k. That math sucks rear end because they didn't have info on all of the years, so I'm generalizing, but they did mention that it declined year to year. I don't know if that decline could balance out the Dem fuckery increasing the primary turnout this year...but if you assume there was the same interest in the primaries as previous years that'd be somewhere around 300k....charitably assume you can 50/50 that for GOP and DEM primaries....150k dem primary voters.

Idk, I feel like I'm missing something but I think it's feasible 45 out of 150 dem primary voters were interested in loving with McDaniels.

"A Mexican law enforcement helicopter crossed approximately 100 yards (100 meters) north into Arizona nearly 8 miles (13 km) southwest of the Village of San Miguel," U.S. border officials in Tucson said. "The incident is currently under investigation."
