The one about the other possible medical exclusions based on religious beliefs is fun too.

I have had a half dozen people cheerleading the majority opinion on my facebook. Without exception, I know for a fact that every one of them have used prescription birth control before. I know that at least 3 of them were on Medicaid during that period also! I would ask them to write a check back to the government for the subsidized whore pills they used when they were broke, but most of them are otherwise pretty OK people and it's not worth fighting over.

But hey man, good for that poor, oppressed for-profit corporation!

That and it takes an incredible amount of money to start a business (either from a bank, which you need collateral and credit for or having thousands and thousands od dollars saved up).

That's not a good analogy to counter with though because then they'll just bring up that you're responsible if you drink and drive, so you should also be responsible if you drink and gently caress.

No screencaps, but I just instigated a meltdown of a high school friend and got unfriended. He posted a long (and I mean LONG) status about how he was involved in an accident today, in which he had to stop hard and a girl behind him, riding a scooter, ended up ever so slightly bumping into him. So he went on and on about how he was facing a "moral dilemma" about whether or not to report the accident to the girl's insurance, taking us on a winding tale of how his bumper was already cracked anyway. He posted pics of the damage, which included a small scratch on his bumper and a mark on his tailpipe.

He also posted a picture of the girl that hit him.

People over-airing their dirty laundry on Facebook is a huge annoyance to me, but posting identifying information about this girl because she was involved in an extremely minor accident to a bunch of people she doesn't know just really pissed me off. It felt really creepy, if nothing else. I made a snide remark that his first move in dealing with the situation should definitely be to post the girl's picture online. This upset him greatly, asking me why he didn't have the right to post a picture of someone who hit him, and why was I so offended over something that didn't involve me? I responded that it was a dick move to put it up, he tells me that social media is here to stay (???) and to get the gently caress over it.

I post a paragraph long explanation about how while he's certainly allowed to post her picture, doing it is rude and not respectful of her privacy, that posting it added nothing to the story, and the fact that he took the picture at all was unnecessary and probably creeped her out. I pointed out that identifying her by name would be extremely rude and the same goes for posting her picture. I told him that while camera phones and social media aren't going anywhere, a 30 year old man should be mature enough to be more discerning with what he posts.

Unfriended, and a total meltdown (I can still see new comments) about how I'm kicking him while he's down, adding insult to injury, and attacking him in his moment of "moral dilemma" ()

Would you have minded If the person who hit him was crazy odd looking instead of just a girl on a scooter? I mean, if I got hit by a huge fat person wearing a mink shaw and purple leotard, you'd better believe I'd post that poo poo and few would think less of me. So does it make a difference when they look normal?

That said, sending this to insurance when he already had a cracked bumper would be a poo poo thing to do.

The way you tell it makes it seem like this accident was all this guys fault (when you hit your brakes hard why are you surprised if the person behind you hits you, especially as they can't see whatever you're stopping for). Is he talking about getting her insurance company involved to pay for the damage her vehicle did to his car? Thats screwed up.

Also, if he was involved in an accident isn't the FIRST thing you should do notify the police?

Yeaaaah this is a pretty unfair analysis of what Othello represents though. He succumbs to his one notable flaw - obsessive jealousy - because of an innate lack of self-worth, brought upon by a lifetime of being treated as a lowly second-class Moor.

Shakespeare's real grievances here are more overtly directed at a patriarchy that he perceives could never truly treat Othello as an equal, and thus conspire to bring about a catastrophic downfall of an otherwise honourable man.

His treatment of women is certainly dated.

Hmmm, keep in mind that once King James takes the throne the works of all playwrights were subject to strict censorship and creating prominent, outspoken female characters probably isn't going to fly and therefore the play isn't going to appear on stage. He's perhaps not the most progressive playwright of his era on this subject, but at the same time his depiction of women is more intricate than you might think.

She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.'

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: 'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.'

The lady was horrified and said: 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!'

'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.'

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!
