And Reddit is going on about how 1) Bill Burr is a pussy because hasn't said anything on his podcast and 2) Jay Mohr is alright because he stated 'Sirius fired Ant because of something he did on his off time, and they broadcast porn.' Which is an argument I don't really grasp, but then again most of the fans really baffle me at this point.

Tap "A" to drink!!!

I'm honestly amazed at Anthony's restraint not to do a huge 'gently caress You' Live from the Compound 'inside radio' show over the weekend. But I guess that's coming this week.

The fact that he's planning it ahead of time, probably due to his new #brand.

People are under a lot of stress, Bradley.
Even though there seems to be a decent amount of reasonable people on the O&A subreddit, there's still a huge number of them sincerely saying that Ant isn't a racist. Not even about the tweets that got him fired, they're saying that Ant has never displayed any kind of racism. There are people seriously saying that the eugenics thing was just "one bit out of a 20 year career that sounds racist." Or that any of his race rants are "taken out of context." Pretty sure even Ant himself has admitted to being a racist, on air, and unironically.

I've seen people claim that when he said "They aren't people" he was only talking about the group that assaulted him ( Yes, the people laughing at him got pulled in as if they were also assaulting him).

I vividly remember Anthony claiming he wasn't racist in like 2007 and then in 2008 saying that he never claimed he wasn't racist. They're just grasping at straws trying to justify their love of the violent, bigoted dickhead that makes them laugh.

Is he racist, or is he just the only man with a voice and enough balls to recognize and address the problems within the black community? Speak out, and you're labelled a racist and shunned by society. Ant truly is, like Jesus, a martyr for the white people of our generation.

Two off the top of my head were when Anthony & Bill talked about race (that clip was posted a few pages ago) and when Patrice said he was "racial" instead of a "racist" and Anthony joked and said he's just a flatout racist.

And yeah the O&A subreddit feels like 25% reasonable people and 75% what the gently caress are you people talking about. The fact anyone is criticizing Bill Burr for not making a public statement when he has zero clue about the situation is baffling. If anything Bill has been one of the most responsible friends by just keeping his opinion out of it.

That didn't happen to me, although it was a pain in the rear end. They offered me 3 months free but I know I'd forget to cancel it and get dinged for a renewal.

They do seem coached on the O&A stuff. When they asked why I was cancelling I said I was only really using it for Howard and O&A. Now that O&A is done and Howard doesn't do the show much, I just won't be using it. He said the show wasn't going away and it was just going to be changing a bit and the company had some exciting new things in store for it. Probably bullshit but who knows. I am paid through the end of the month so I'll get to hear how bad it is next week.

Yea I bet Bill has a few opinions about what Anthony said, but was probably either told 'yo man don't add fuel right away' or, gee, maybe is just a smart and not socially retarded guy and realizes that now isn't a great time to make another excellent 'gently caress that guy' rant about Anthony like he did on the show.

Either way, I don't think Reddit will like his opinion when he says it!

I highly doubt this will hurt sirius in the long run. I mean few thousand cancellations out of 25 million is nothing and the PR for firing a racist is going to be good for them. And really most people aren't going to give a poo poo in 2 weeks.

Yep. No one is going to care after a while, and if the show is continued in some capacity the majority of listeners will end up staying having that nostalgia of what it once was and wanting SOMETHING for their commute/work day.

If Anthony was making 3 million a year he would need $5 subs of 50k people a month for whatever he tried to do on his own to match that. Not only that, he would have no support base unless he hires some people on the cheap to get behind his name/idea. Realistically he could do well I think trying something like this but it is going to be no where near as profitable for him and he is going to have to work a lot harder save for commuting.

Edit: and by on the cheap, find some funny enough people who can help you produce it and would take a meager cut of what you'd actually be making. 2-3 should do it, he could get by with just 1 if he really wanted as well.

Their Facebook page has like 122k likes, no way he can hit 50k a month willing to dump $5 for his online only thing not easy to get in their car. He would be very lucky to get 5-10k. He is hosed in terms of money he was making, he had a perfect gig and blew it.

He'd have to start making appearances and stuff if he wanted to approach his former income.

I've heard a lot of the standups doing podcasting say that the value in doing it isnt from the podcasting itself, but from getting people to pay and show up for their live events.

A Live From The Compound Tour would be pretty cool, actually.

And who knows where this is all gonna be in a year, or six months even. They had Dog the Bounty Hunter on tape saying "friend of the family" and he got another gig once enough time had passed.

Anthony's not necessarily permanently relegated to the podcasting ghetto. Once enough time has passed, someone who feels like they can make money with him will pick him up.

I don't think there is going to be big money for many people in radio these days. Even if they renewed, it likely wouldn't have been for as much.

He can still make a decent living off a podcast. His following is likely as big as Carolla's was when he got fired. There is probably a way to turn it into a live show format and he has a ton of comedian friends he can bring in as guests. Basically if you can get a loyal audience behind something, you can find ways to monetize it.

I also wouldn't be surprised if a new or existing podcast company with some VC money made a play for the guy after their contract is up.
