So, did they completely remove the third age sliver/fragment vendors? I'd been going back and forth on what to spend my 342 fragments and 11541 slivers on, figuring I'd hear some sort of warning before they poofed, and I finally logged in to check out the anniversary event, and hey look they're gone.

Joy.

You were waffling for a month? I guess if you wanted to, you could ask a GM to take the amount and give you the item. That might work.

I take it tanks are needed in the endgame? I just did an elite slaughterhouse as a dps and the tank kept placing two of the huge aoes right in front of the small room. We had two 10.2 players and when I asked them how the tank should do this they relied "I don't know, I dps".

SH is notorious for being overtuned. In The Old Days it was apparently super easy to rush and brought in loads of XP and pax. But then Funcom started "fixing" it and it got harder and harder and now to effectively do it you need some ringers.

I'm assuming you were in fight 2.

Well, I got the pet, but after that it was either get clothes or get bullion, which seemed wasteful, but I never run nightmares, so it's useful, but I theoretically could run some nightmares... so, yeah, indecision. I figured I'd bite the bullet when they announced they were going away. But nope, poof.

And it was really quite a while longer than a month, since I had most of them early on in the Flappy Crappy.

Hm, not to mention some of the alts may have had enough left to buy a glyph or something.

Laughterhouse, and specifically NKL-107, is self aware. Funcom is not capable of tuning a dungeon, that dungeon is self aware and doesn't like being exploited.

Laughterhouse 2 on NM is great fun because it requires at minimum 60% of the party to respec into assault rifle to use Razor Wire because the alternative way of doing it is so incredibly painful that you would be a fool to even consider it.

So daedalu5 did a petition today about the bridge.

[*Odonoptera|Game Master]: Hello. Thank you for the report regarding the 'jumpers'. We're investigating the matter and should have a solution in a future update.

[*Odonoptera|Game Master]: We apologize for the inconvenience, then. We appreciate all of your patience, as the issue is slated to be resolved in a future update.

So yesterday it was working correctly and I was just doing it wrong. Today it's broken and they're working on a fix.

Edit: My character selection screen finally updated. After showing the proton pack on the model since whenever i8 launched it's finally updated.

Recently finished City of the Sun God, and I got to say its one of the best put together zone in the game so far for me. Second place for me would have to be Kingsmouth Town. The other zones are really drawn out with alot of backtracking but these two seem really rounded.

Its weird because I felt the same way about it too but thats because I ran the City of the Sun God in a circuit like it seems meant to be run and it was the most efficient zone in the game for me.

Yeah, I didn't mind CotSG at all - I followed a counterclockwise circuit, don't know if that's the ideal route but it covered all my bases and felt pretty good. Didn't hate it at all.

Not my favourite zone either by a long shot.

You can get it to update by choosing character select from the escape menu in game, letting it log out back to character select and then closing the client. Stupid, I know, but it works.

I liked CotSG because of the Egyptian/mythological angle, but navigating that zone is tough.

I found City of the Sun God quite a lot more fun to quest than Blue Mountain. That zone was a loving horrible piece of poo poo imho. I only find myself going back there to do quarry group grinds and casino group funtimes.

So how feature complete is Issue 9 anyway? Does it end on an obvious "Yeah man, we have two more issues to put out before Tokyo is done, this is just a teaser", or does it contain most of the Tokyo story, ending with us needing to deal with Orochi Tower "later".

I just know Funcom is going to take a year and a half before they put out 10/11, trying to figure out where they end 9 at, because I don't want to deal with a year long cliffhanger.

They finally elaborated on why Orochi personnel are so hosed when they have tanks the size of buildings and motherfucking cyborg ninjas at their beck and call as well.

Actually, one wonders why they didn't just deploy tanks the size of buildings and motherfucking cyborg ninjas to the earlier zones. Probably would have saved them a few casualties. They're like the Umbrella Corp of The Secret World. So I guess the idea of sending more than a few expendable goons to go camp out on top of the supernatural equivalent of a nuclear waste dumping site didn't occur to them.

Edit: TL;DR: Really, aside from the fact that it was gated behind scenarios the update is pretty good. Pick it up if you want more TSW.

I did some Orochi missions in Blue Mountain recently (I hadn't done them before -- maybe they were added while I was away), and Orochi comes across as having as much or more power than the three factions. It was a little unsettling. :ohdear:

Orochi is stupidly powerful. Hell, just the fact that they're basically a megacorp with multiple companies acting as subsidiary conspiracies/megacorps means they've got much more publicly displayable power than any of the conspiracies.

There's a line somewhere where I believe one of the handlers points out how bad of an idea it would be to piss them off since they could just blow the top off of the conspiracies in retaliation. Some of the earlier lore before development stalled on Tokyo implies they might have been much more of a threat alongside the Filth too.

Play the dragon storyline through and there's even a hint at Orochi being much better than them doing their sneaky poo poo too. Turns out a nine headed dragon is a hell of a lot more aware than a one headed dragon. Cue implied purges in the upper ranks as the Dragon starts to reorganize to be more like them.

The problem with Orochi is that they appear to be run by saturday morning cartoon villains. Not because they're goofy or anything, but because they're the types that'll happily direct a bunch of goons to charge the nearest invincible threat. This being a lovecraftian horror game, instead of the goons being soundly defeated by something like GI-Joe's laser-like bullets it instead ends with lots of tentacles coming out of unfortunate places and the former goons shrieking un-words into the night.

Also, as far as I can tell the entire Egypt episode with them is basically them wondering what happens when you excavate the equivalent of a Filth inspired nuclear dump site. Which is just :psyduck: levels of stupidity when you figure out who runs the company. Anyone with a bit of sense would have given that place a fifty mile berth, at least. It gave us Dr. Klein, but really, it didn't take a genius to see that that was going to go horribly wrong at some point.

It definitely seems to be suggested in game that they're so powerful they can kind of just send wave after wave of people at a problem without any real loss to the company.

I'm going to pick this game up again and start a new character since I remember it being fun and I actually have some time to play now.

I picked a random location in City of sun God when starting out, and that's where i pretty much stopped playing altogether. Something about an abandoned orochi camp where I pretty much lost most of my health in a couple of seconds.

If i pick it up again, will this poo poo get better? because Blue Mountain felt draining, and CotSG is all over the place.

Goons originally joined on the Grim dimension. You can do all of the PvE content with anyone, regardless of the dimension they are on. Cabals are not dimension specific. The PvP battle group you belong to is determined by your dimension.

As far as I know there is no goon pvp presence at all so server 100% doesn't matter.

City of the Sun God is pretty much the worst zone if you don't do it in a specific order. The rest are much more entertaining. Push through it, or just grab the SP to skip it. You're only one zone off from a translyvanian vampire apocalypse! :drac:
