Talansky's not gonna finish this stage. The gap just keeps widening.

Surprised the team haven't dropped a few guys back to pull him on. Maybe they're not sure he's worth saving.

Talansky should get a jersey for not doping on rest day.

Honestly IF they didn't let him retire then they really should send him one teammate to at least keep him company or something.

Team manager reckons he can still outclimb a bunch of sprinters even if they do have a group and he doesn't have a working back. "Will he retire" + pity gets you mad camera time.

I see he's 13:55 off the back. Is that from the leader or the Peloton?

TraderStav posted:I see he's 13:55 off the back. Is that from the leader or the Peloton? Leader, not that it's much of a difference at this point. But all times are always given from the front so you need to do a bit of math if you want to know gaps between other groups.

he's 13:55 off the group ahead edit: cut-off time is in percentages if i recall correctly so it depends on how fast the other guys are going.

http://www.letour.com/le-tour/2014/us/live/aso/ gives reasonable splits. The timing's not great, but it gives you an idea of where each group is.

TraderStav posted:What is the cutoff time for DNF? It's a percentage of the winner's time. The percentage is different for different kinds of stages (flat, mountain, time trial etc.) but I don't know them off the top of my head. Around 30 minutes sounds realistic.

Eurosport commentators reckoned closer to 25m. Which could well be an issue for Talansky.

The guys obviously in a lot of pain but carrying on, not sure why some of you are laughing at him...

I looked it up in the official rules, it depends on the assessed difficulty of the stage and the average speed at which the winner completed it. Assuming this is a medium difficulty stage, the relevant part would be: 10% between 38 km/h & 39 km/h; 11% between 39 km/h & 40 km/h; 12% between 40 km/h & 41 km/h; 13% between 41 km/h & 42 km/h; 14% between 42 km/h & 43 km/h; 15% between 43 km/h & 44 km/h
