It's dumb but you also have to remember that most German voters were alive during the cold war, when Fallout was basically a re-localized version of their expected future. Everyone knew the Russians would nuke everything then the Americans, French and British would nuke them again once Russia made it through. Fear of all things nuclear runs deeper than Japan. It's not rational, but the nuclear symbol is a symbol of doom to many Germans. When I lived there literally the only person I knew who was pro-nuclear was a nuclear physicist. Even his wife wasn't totally convinced. Highly educated people, including engineers, were grateful the local nuclear plant was shut down.

Wookiepedia summarizes it as quote:[From 1980 u]ntil 1987, the Greens comprised a faction involved in pedophile activism, the SchwuP short for Arbeitsgemeinschaft "Schwule, Päderasten und Transsexuelle" (approx. working group "Gays, Pederasts and Transsexuals"). This faction campaigned for repealing § 176 of the German penal code, dealing with child sexual abuse. This group was controversial within the party itself, and was seen as partly responsible for the poor election result of 1985.[6] This controversy re-surfaced in 2013 in the context of the pedophilia activism of Daniel Cohn-Bendit, and chairwoman Claudia Roth stated she welcomed an independent scientific investigation on the extent of influence pedophile activists had on the party in the mid 1980s.[7][8]

No doubt if Obama and Biden were still in the Senate it would be 98-2 because they hate Israel just that much. They hate them so much they've done, uh, I'll get back to you, but trust me it's a lot and incredibly bad. There are even unconfirmed reports than once, in private, Obama said that settlements were bad, sometimes. It's outrageous.

Young people today are literally sabotaging railroad tracks in concerted efforts to prevent or delay transports of nuclear waste, organized and supported by organizations such as Greenpeace. In a country half the size of texas, people consider lignite a better choice than nuclear. Ironically, this leads to landscapes looking like this: It is beyond retarded and shameful. The same applies to the "NSA spying scandal" as it is usually named. I have university educated friends who watch Russia Today, say that "many of the Maidan protestors are actually nazis!" - another of those modern German bogeymen and feel that Russia annexing crimea is actually "a complicated issue". This loving idiot generation is squandering what their grandparents (if they were lucky enough to survive the war/avoid living in a socialist hellhole with a literal loving wall around it) built in decades of hard work by putting their idiotic "green" fantasies over realpolitik.

Fortunately somehow plucky little Israel survives, with nothing but billions of dollars of free money to spend on U.S. weapons, massive cooperation with the DoD despite their frequent espionage against the DoD, and the United States vetoing pretty much every single thing directed against them despite Israel doing whatever they want all the time regardless of what we do or say. I just hope the United States decides to maybe support Israel for once.
