Not only is this BS right off the bat (income has been taxed since at least 1862, according to the first excel document on that site), income tax rates are now astronomically low compared to most of the 20th century. For instance, a single person earning $450,000 or more last year would have been included in the highest tax bracket with a tax rate of 39.6%. Seems like a hefty chunk, until you realize that, in the year 1954, which I'd be willing to bet whoever posted this includes in the "good ol' days" they masturbate to, the equivalent income to $450,000 today (roughly $52,000) would be taxed at 75%.

Not to mention that income tax rates went even further back then, all the way to 91%! Yet somehow, even with the benevolent ***JOB CREATORS*** having most of their income wrested away from them, we had a healthy, stable economy. How about that.

Well clearly it was the high tax rates that lead to the great depression then and hngh.

Thank you. I was going to post this. A Tea Partier I know was waxing on about how much better America was in 'the good old days' of the 50s and how taxes are Socialist/Gubmint taking all his money. THen I told him that he'd be taxed for about 2/3rds of his income instead of the 1/3rd he gets now. I got told I was a LIEbral.

In his defense, he firmly believed that the CIA was to blame for the plane that disappeared. This latest one just made him feel even more confident :smug:

Cancer tumours do have a lower (more acidic) pH than the surrounding cells, that's what a lot of current research is using to try to target medicine to just the tumour site instead of messing up healthy tissue.

This still has nothing to do with any stupid pseudoscientific diet crap.

Sooo, what does milk thistle have to do with yeast. Is it used to create it? Kill it? I must know! What about hepatitis? When milk thistle is "used for" hepatitis, is it to give people hepatitis?

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/138.html

Although seriously, I can't find anything that says milk thistle gets rid of yeast infections. If it mimics estrogen, it would be likely to increase the possibility of a woman getting a vaginal yeast infection, though.

I also had to look up what a galactogogue was, since I've never heard/seen the word.

"wikipedia posted:

Herbals and foods used as galactogogues have little or no scientific evidence of efficacy and the identity and purity of herbals are concerns because of inadequate testing requirements.[12][13]

Milk Thistle has been shown to be effective in retarding liver damage in alcoholics (alcoholics metabolize alcohol differently due to the volume to booze they drink and milk thistle helps deal with some of the dangerous metabolites from that process) and milk thistle has been used (with varying degrees of success) in Amanita poisoning (which shreds the liver to poo poo). It also may help with some various hepatitises. Like a lot of promising herbal supplements, there is a case to be made for it being helpful in some very specific circumstances (there is even a method of action!) but natural medicine generalizes those specific circumstances to all liver issues everywhere.

Using my superhuman vision I can see that it is the logo of The Doctors United Charitable Trust which appears to be a non-profit clinic/medical group run by Indian-Americans. Their facebook page is full of harmless medical advice with some pseudoscience sprinkled in to explain.

"Yeast" is probably a reference to "systemic candidiasis," which is a made-up thing. People who believe in systemic candidiasis believe that it can be eliminated by supporting liver function; since milk thistle probably does have some effectiveness in preventing liver damage, somehow this gets all garbled up in pseudoscience world and hey presto, milk thistle cures yeast. It does seem like it might have some effectiveness as a galactagogue (a drug that promotes lactation), too, but the evidence is weak at best.
