Steely Dan sucks and if you don't come to that conclusion within twenty seconds of hearing your first song of theirs, IDKW. Aja is good though.

I just remember this from my childhood back in the 70's. When my family visited older family in the old woods retirement community of southern MO I saw commercials for BBQ sauce (Maull it!), beer Hamm's the beer refreshing, or Barq's root beer. My Granddad was awesome at grilling chicken over apple and cherry wood, and even though he lived in MO, home of Budweiser, he didn't drink Bud or Pabst, he actually drank Schaefer when he wanted a beer. Weird, I know. But the commercials ran so often they make me nostalgic for those old days so many years ago. Dr. Faustus fucked around with this message at 05:00 on Jul 20, 2014 |

Captain_Maclaine posted:No prob. Say, is it true that the Vietnam War ended because officers were getting fragged by their enlisted way too often? Was it because of the differing tastes in music? I just had an idea for the next Broadway hit: Fragged: The Musical. Differing styles performed live by cast members. Horrors of Vietnam war whitewashed into musical routines. It'll be the best thing to happen to the genre since Springtime for Hitler!

I come back and I have like five responses taking my intentionally bad analogy seriously. Of course calling 4'33" the end of music is inane hipster nonsense you turds, that's the whole point it's a lousy line of logic as long as we're posting Steely Dan though here's the GOP anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewB0bXG4tLQ

Absurd Alhazred posted:Say, is it true that the Vietnam War ended because officers were getting fragged by their enlisted way too often? Was it because of the differing tastes in music? There was an interesting blog post I read a long time ago, and thought I bookmarked, about various mutinies and acts of resistance toward fighting on the part of soldiers during Vietnam, but I guess I lost it at some point. I found this, though, which mentions a few big incidents: http://militaryhistorynow.com/2013/09/25/no-sir-a-short-history-of-mutinies-in-the-u-s-military/ And here's a summary of a book about GI resistance toward the Vietnam War here, which was the main source for my lost blog post anyway: http://www.citizen-soldier.org/cortright.html But yeah there's a good case to be made that part of the reason for the Vietnam War ending is because the US Army's morale was so in the gutter that large numbers of units were simply incapable of effective combat.
