Mandrake is one of the worst and least coherent strips in this thread but I can't wait to see what kind of stuff Falk/Fredericks came up with for the Earth's future in 50,000 years, and likewise the evidence of the usual obvious struggle between ambitious script and lazy art.

For similar reasons, I'm legitimately on the edge of my loving seat about Mary Worth.

I think its more "he admitted to beating the casino using a mathematical system." Casinos don't take kindly to people who take the chance out of their games of chance.

It's an honor thing. The guy didn't cheat, he won it fair and square and taking it back in public would make them look weak, even if the winner actually wants to give it back.

Doesn't stop them from mugging and killing the guy the moment he gets out of sight though.

It's pretty okay, but it is pretty prone to taking several forevers to do anything.

That said, frog aliens was absolutely amazing.

Heads up, thread: The auction for the Bill Watterson Pearls Before Swine strips has gone live. Needless to say, the going rate for all three is a little out of the typical goon's price range, but remember - the money's going to fund Parkinson's research!

It's actually just "9". Presumably computer entities can understand hexadecimal just fine too.

It's a cloud with the number nine on it. Cloud nine. The joke works fine (but would have been a lot better if he didn't feel the need to explain it in the last panel). What does hexadecimal have to do with it?

So, small historical note. Starting in December 1974, the Evening Standard dropped their Saturday issue. While they didn't publish, many of the other papers Modesty ran in still came out on Saturdays. Instead of leaving them hanging, O'Donnell and Romero created strips numbered with xxxxA for them. You'll be seeing them for the rest of Modesty's run.
