Please don't bring back rules like this just because of some bickering or whatever the hell was going on earlier. All arguments eventually fizzle out or someone will eventually end it with an interesting post or new content. If they don't stop, just probate them; don't make everyone else suffer under some dumb rule for stupid dummy heads. People are talking, and casual or argumentative, picture or not, that's what message boards are for :shobon:

In the interest of open discussion on this - the rule (at least used to, I don't remember having to queue so many up before) makes people slow down a bit rather than mashing reply immediately on yet another derail.

I don't intend for this to be permanent, only until people seem to remember what the purpose of this thread was (and why I started the chat threads to draw some of the offtopic / general posting away).

Amusingly enough I actually saw a "WHO IS JOHN GALT" sticker on an Explorer yesterday. Clearly the standards for FYGM have slipped.

I think old Hondas are overpriced pretty much everywhere - which is a pity as I'd really like an EK4 hatchback (always wanted one)

I think you do a good job of keeping things organized, and it's clear you care about maintaining and making this forum better.

I read this thread nearly everyday. The pictures aren't what's important because I can find whacky car pictures anywhere. It's the knowledgeable and intelligent people discussing the picture that make this thread interesting. Derails and general internet retardation occurs but most AI posters are good posters. It doesn't take much more than a gentle nudge to get things back on track.

I think the rule and these probations lower the quality of the thread. I hope you remove the rule sooner rather than later.

Next, they'll get a bill from the city for $100,000 for taking the pole, since they didn't leave it behind.

I'd call this a pretty significant fail on the part of whoever cut the vinyl (or heaven forbid, painted it).

3. We have been approached by many of you in the same situation as us, so we hope our action will get the government to review the current Australian Consumer Law and introduce a “Lemon Law” like the one that has been in the USA since 1970, that protects consumers from defective vehicles.

imo an electric supercharger set up could actually be pretty good if it was well designed and not made out of $3 worth of PVC piping and an old computer fan.

There are I believe legitimate electric superchargers now but they cost at least as much as a real turbo kit and the hardware is no joke.

I'd be interested in the process for doing a from-scratch build. I'm guessing the primary challenge is generating enough amps?

EDIT: Here's some content. Some silly person on Jalopnik wants to build this:

And an efficient enough electrical path. Unless the layout of the engine and engine bay prevents the use of a traditional mechanically-driven supercharger, a mechanically-driven supercharger is still probably a better choice since a simple mechanical linkage like a belt drive is simpler, lighter, and cheaper than a powerful high efficiency motor, control electronics, and a beefed up alternator and electrical system.

Also, Audi's bi-turbo seems awfully complex with the additional plumbing and bypass. You'd think coupling a motor/generator to the turbo like the new F1 cars would make more sense. The motor can drive the turbo for low end boost while the generator can absorb excess exhaust power that would otherwise be bled off by the waste gate and supplement the alternator.
