Not sure if you've heard Tessla, Special Request ('Soul Music' LP on Houndstooth), or Millie & Andrea ('Drop the Vowels' LP -- http://thump.vice.com/en_uk/words/exclusive-listen-to-millie--andreas-drop-the-vowels-lp). Might dig those.

I checked out both of these, Special Request had me bouncing right back to this old chestnut (it's UKG I suppose, but still a kicker)

Having been into drum and bass for a couple of years now, I have no real experience other than listening to it on my own or will a couple of friends. Then I saw this poster, and being pretty clueless about these things I've come here to ask if it looks any good. At first glance I saw Ed Rush & Optical so I was hooked, but then realised it's not actually them live? Are these kinds of thing generally lame or what?

Also, any recommendations for something similar to Ram Trilogy's Molten Beats would be appreciated.

The majority of events are going to be DJ sets, a live show is rare (probably just Pendulum, Netsky, a few other Hospital Records acts, maybe Dirtyphonics?). If you haven't experienced dnb on a soundsystem, go, you will most likely have a good time and get a different perspective on the music. Ed Rush & Optical are good DJs, will probably play a lot of their own material, and other artists they've signed to Virus Recordings.

Definitely the first three Ram Trilogy EP's (that led up to that album), their 'Titan' EP (after the album), actually probably most of the releases on Ram Records between 1997 and 2001 (Ram Raiders EP's). You might like the early releases on Virus Records (be sure to check the 'Wormhole' EP), and maybe some of the Underfire Recordings stuff ('Blazin' LP).

Thoughts on the Noisia EP? I didn't really like what I heard at first, but it's grown on me and I purchased the whole thing - I'm even tempted to grab a vinyl copy. So far I think Leopard Slug or Running Blind are my favourite tracks. I like the syncopated feel on the track with Evol Intent but it could be a lot heavier.

I've only listened to it once but I really liked it! The only track I didn't really care about too much was Stamp Out, but besides that, the rest of them are awesome. I think it sounds pretty filthy overall, and I'm glad to have some new well-produced filthy DNB to listen to because it's been a while for me.

It's definitely cool to see that Evol Intent are still around, though yeah, I also had higher hopes when I saw their name on the track.

Good god, he already had one of the best DNB albums of 2012 with Fear Not, and from the sound of this, he'll have one of the best DNB albums of 2014 too with Polyphony.

I really like Logistics but honestly sometimes it feels like he's just re-using some sort of D&B template. That track is eerily familiar to his 2005 track Thunderchild. I hope the rest of the album will be a bit more versatile.

Trawling through tapes, found a Rush FM recording with a mad track on I couldn't readily identify, I wasn't living in the city at the time. Took a while to hunt down, but it was totally worth the :effort:

Sorry I never post DnB as it is today, I check out tracks recommended here, but I think I'm pretty much stuck in the nineties.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7e3GLiJEfo Dica and Ben Intellect Cant Stop The Pirates (Weekend Rush)

There's a short documentary on UK pirate radio in the nineties that aired bits of this tune as well. Seeing Brockie looking so young again was kinda nuts.

Listening to this more and more lately. Really loving the vibe in this track.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOtmtYcKQsg

What I can't place is who it sounds like. Focusing on the sound introduced at the 1:05 drop. The sound seems so familiar to me, just can't place it at the moment. I want to say it reminds me of Concord Dawn or maybe even Pendulum, but that doesn't seem right. Regardless, I'm really enjoying this album, but definitely not any more than Polyphony.

Sort of an older Dillinja or Break style bass, I think it's an 808 kick with distortion and some filter movement on it. Stealth's new tune "Homage" uses it too, but is more aggressive sounding. Concord Dawn probably used that style a bit on older stuff too.

Dillinja, that's a bit closer to what I was thinking. Maybe even Bad Company actually. I'll check out Homage as well. I like that older sound personally.

Edit: Wow, Stealth - Homage is exactly the type of sound I'm digging. Thanks
