I did my first full model paint on a Firespray. I used the Ralph Mcquarrie Boba Fett concept scheme as inspiration and I was really happy with how it turned out.    I put together a bit of a step by step album too. http://imgur.com/a/5eguY Now I just need to actually start playing with the firespray...

Can you link an image of the concept? I'll be honest, 95% of X-Wing repaints I see look dreadful. That one looks really cool, the only thing I don't like is losing the shine on the cockpit from the original mini.

It looks really bumpy and non reflective in the photo but looks almost exactly like the factory paint job in real life. Its painted solid black with a high gloss varnish over top.

By contrast, literally the first Imperial release outside of the core set had a female pilot in it. The pilots that come with it all have interesting and useful abilities, its dial is really good for a large ship, it has great firepower and a secondary firing arc that covers the rear, and it comes with some very good cards for your other ships. Definitely a great buy.

That rather reflects the lore in question, especially the movies, so that's what you get for using it as inspiration. That said, wasn't one of the RoTJ A-wing pilots played by a woman and dubbed over? e: Come to think of it, even if you include crew and the like, does that really add any more besides Leia?

I've been dipping my toes into minis for this game since it came out, but still haven't had a chance to play it. But last week I heard my local shop is starting league play. I think I'm too late to join this time, but oh man do I love leagues. So I'm going whole hog on building out my Rebels now. Any suggestions for Empire ships I should also grab for "must have" upgrades? (My thematically favorite ships are Y wings and A wings, if that helps.)

Defender also has Outmaneuver, which is also killer. It basically turns EVERYONE with an EPT into Wedge if they're out of arc.

I only started playing a little over a month ago so maybe it's just my newness showing, but what's the benefit to putting Veteran Instincts on Han, since he's already PS9? I guess if Imperials have initiative and also have a PS9 ship that would be useful to beat that one but that seems rather specific to bother using the points upgrading. That said I just play friendly games with my friends picking out our favorite ships so maybe this is something from more competitive play I'm missing?

It beats Whisper with VI. It really only matters if you care about shooting at a cloaked phantom but I personally prefer the Predator pilot skill instead since it allows Han to keep his action free. Cloaked phantoms, like stealthy interceptors, go down easily when they're forced to roll enough dice. This is why Han wants a gunner. It's a specific game call because not all locales will feature heavy use of phantoms.

Man, the last guy I faced at regionals rolled 11 straight evades without a blank or eye. Totally natural. Odds are like 1:50,000. I lost 100-0 (went 3-3 overall). Then my hotel was overbooked.

They all laughed at me when I said it was ridiculous to call a list "Han Shoots First" with Han only shooting at PS9. "No list with VI on a PS8+ pilot is competitive", they said. "The HWK is a dud, you'll never see Roark Garnet", they scoffed. Well look at how Han is wasting his EPT slot and a point now.

It sucks slightly less with Recon Specialist, Moldy Crow title, and a Blaster Turret at least. Shoot that poo poo all day long. Granted, that's a fairly expensive ship to have just to be a mini-Falcon. Use Kyle Katarn, and at least you can be support while doing it.
