A Green Lantern is watching over the prison cells (sciencells, whatever) and falls for imprisoned Star Sapphire Nol-Anj. Larfleeze invades and the rookie sets her free, leading to this moment. Turns out on the next page that he got stabbed through the gut, but... that was an oddly suggestive bit of violence. (No one knows that Lantern's name or home planet, btw) Oh well, its not like Sapphires are regular ballbusters or-- Oh. Hope you generated a green cup, Hal! (Both pics from Green Lantern Volume 4: Dark Days, not sure which specific issues)

That would belong to the Touching Panels thread if I wasn't laughing so much. Notice that the She-Hulk cosplayer's bodypaint came off on her knee. Nice detail.

I was going to ask why nobody was bringing up Howard the Duck on that float. Then I thought for a moment, and realized I did not register his presence the first two times. Perhaps because my brain was trying to protect me from harm.

Captain America looks an awful lot like that hobo guy with no superpowers that dresses in a costume anyway and saves the world from demons/aliens/something. I think it was maybe in the Hitman series?

The Dagda posted:Is there any explanation for Bueno Excelente other than that he is a rapist? According to an interview in Wizard Magazine, a young Garth Ennis and his brother were in Spain on a holiday. While there they watched some Spainish TV, and they came across some porn on TV. It featured a scene where a man performed acts on a woman and said Bueno Excelente. This stuck with the Ennis boys, Garth in particular. So it sounds like a in-joke that he made into a character.

Endless Mike posted:Now post the panel where Kyle Raynor says he was drugged and kept hearing "Bueno..." over and over. Only because you asked nicely. But yeah, the whole "joke" of Section 8 was that they were all terrible, terrible people who thought of themselves as superheroes. An Alcoholic, a Traitor, a Sex Offender, and several other varieties of hosed-up trying to fight crime. And then at the end all of the mostly-terrible people die, the most hosed-up one of all lives on, and the sad one ends up saving the world and being vindicated. It's... it sure is something.

Bueno Excelente is one of the most damning things in Ennis' career. It really is a tasteless, stupid joke. It's one of those things that undercuts any good will I have towards him as a writer. Gunfire 1,000,000, on the other hand, is perfect: (from Hitman #1,000,000)
