Yeah (and thanks to rotinaj for linking it.) In my defence I had that idea years before Hollywood used it. Much like my idea of having characters die in a freak gasoline fight accident years before Zoolander came out.)

I think my overall idea for a JSA storyline was in an absurdest humour way. Like I think I wanted the run to have Hawkman die at the start of the run, and have Hawkman show up in the funeral the next issue. But apart from that,go through the usual comic tropes with a dead hero for Hawkman (have other characters feel depressed over his death, have a statute erected to his memory, etc...) All the while, Hawkman is just THERE in the comic.
Then near the end of the run, Hawkman would come back from the dead to help the heroes win a huge climactic battle. And then just have two Hawkmen on the team....with absolutely no comment from anyone.

Gone, gone, O honky man,
And rise the M.C. Etrigan!

Sort of, except I'm imagining the character actually having been dead. The character gets killed, they arrange the funeral the next day at 1:00 (the time they keep open for funerals), and by then the character's already been resurrected somehow. They show up because they know it's funeral time and SOMEBODY must have died (absentmindedly forgetting "Oh, it was me"), so when the open invitation comes the character volunteers, figuring "Eh, I may as well get it out of the way" and then looks over at the picture (which others had conveniently been in the way of) to see, "Oh, that's right! I died!"

Of course, me imagining an appointed time set aside daily for dead X-Men now makes me picture a Sentinel showing up during the service, with Storm flying up and yelling at it to please be respectful and leave them alone during the ceremony, we will be more than happy to engage you after this is finished, thank you very much. By the way, we do apologize, but he was Catholic, so this will be a while. "ALL RIGHT. *WHIRR* *SITS QUIETLY*"

From Original Sin: Hulk vs. Iron Man #4. The miniseries has been about Banner discovering that Stark fiddled with the gamma bomb back in the day, presumably causing the Hulk to exist. Stark did a lot of drinking back then, so he wasn't so sure what the truth was, but ultimately found that his messing with the bomb prevented it from being a lot worse. Cooler heads prevail.

Man it's moments like that that almost make me want to get back into reading Marvel, and then I remember that comics like the really crappy and grim-derp Incursion exist and I go back to not giving a drat about Marvel 616 as they ruin my Suspension of Disbelief and I'm one of those people who care about continuity too much to ignore them(this has been a problem for me since Morrison's X-Men run and Avengers Dissassembled/House of M/Decimation, so it's been a long time since I consistently enjoyed modern Marvel)

Your comics reading experience is in serious need of some overhauling.

Why of all plotlines does the Incursion storyline ruin your "SoD"? What does grim-derp even mean? What does that have to do with any other Marvel comic? Why do you care about continuity SO MUCH that you can't even read and enjoy a million great comics Marvel is putting out? What about those comics you listed has to do with your grudge/obsession with continuity, anyway? You sound miserable, and I think you need to talk it out.

I have no problem with serious comics, it's just that when a serious comic is bad, it's often way worse than a bad non-serious comic and well there's a quote that sums up my problems with most modern superhero comics(this is from memory so I might not be getting it quite right); "Remember when comic book worlds were places you wanted to escape to, not from..."

Sounds like you could use some continuity-free, all-ages stuff like Marvel Adventures, Power Pack, and my personal favorite, Thor: The Mighty Avenger.

I think the solo-B titles are light on continuity and offer a lot more variety than the big team/solo books. Even most of the event tie-ins don't derail their respective books, unlike in the Civil War/Secret Invasion/Dark Reign era.

Yeah I know about that stuff, it's just that I love 616, and it irritates me that in the majority of stuff set there in the last decade plus the heroes just tend to come off as either not heroic at all or just plain incompetent if not both at the same time with only the occasional exception

Also Incursion pisses me off because it's ruining multiple characters I love(The Illuminati or at least it's members), and now I can't consider the 616 versions of them heroes anymore after what they did to Earth-4290001, they are now pretty much full blown villains in spite of whatever they do in the future, considering they were complicit in the death of an entire inhabited alternate Earth
