Basically, it's an increasing minimum, with all the games rising the minimum by $0.50 each (with the exception of Isomer and Fall Weiss, which add $1 each). So, it's possible to buy a pair of games for a dollar. The entire thing is $6. Naturally, you can also pay more.

I couldn't even get BloodRayne to loving load up on Windows 7 with the latest Nvidia drivers when I picked it up over the holidays. I recall seeing lots of people complaining about the same issue, and for a mediocre two dollar game I wasn't about to revert my drivers to some ancient bullshit, which seemed to be the only fix available at the time.

I wrote a bunch of words a while back in I think the previous steam thread or winter sale thread but hell if I'll be able to find those. Summary: it's a fun game, get it if you can get it for cheap, there is a lot of content and it is interesting and fun to blow apart castles and stuff, has a few shortcomings regarding boss fights but altogether a solid and fun game.

It's not bad, but be warned the Multiplayer (the major reason I got it) was a huge let down. Singleplayer is pretty decent.

I don't know how you feel about Mobile->PC games, but it still feels a bit mobile-y in design and scope. Perhaps it's just me, but whenever I play a mobile-ported game sitting down at my desktop (no matter how 'polished' it is) I feel I'd be better off putting it on my tablet/playing something more engaging/or doing something else.

I picked up Space Run over the weekend and I quite like it. For an indie game it has pretty good polish and art direction, except for the mediocre story and voice acting. Pick it up if you're into tower defense games at all, it's a fun spin on the genre. You basically play as a space trucker hauling cargo through dangerous space. You have to balance building thrusters for speed and offensive/defensive structures to fend off waves of baddies who attack you from all sides. Worth the $15 on Steam or GoG.

It's because they're standalone expansions so you have to duplicate all of the stuff over again.

I remember Valve had a thing where if you installed a Source Engine game it would not download the redundant Source parts so I wonder if you could do the same thing with third party games.

I was positive I remembered the retail copy of EFLC making use of the GTAIV files and only being a couple of gigabytes of extra content on top of it, but maybe I was just mixing it up in my head with what the Half Life Episodes did on Steam.

You're going to love it:

Shadowgate Kickstarter Update #49 posted:

I'm an NES/GBC fan. Tell me more about the retro game enhancements.
Two years ago, we contacted KEMCO, the company that took our game and ported it to the NES and GBC, to get permission to use the NES music. Last week, we decided to drop the original death screen into this build for fun. At the same time, our programmers surprised us with a few new features that made us grin. Here’s what they did:

The options screen now has three checkboxes (Retro text, Retro music, Retro graphics). You can turn these on or off at any time.
The text in the text box comes up one letter at a time, pulled by a moving quill - just like in the NES version.
We've already mentioned the music- It's Hiroyuki Masuno's memorable soundtrack.
For graphics, a special pixelated filter has been applied to the scene, rendering everything in the room as if it is was made in 8-bit graphics. While the filter isn't currently applied to the inventory objects, it’s a ton of fun to walk thru the rooms and watch 8 bit torches burn.

I'm dating myself here, but this game was at least an entire semester of my freshman year of high school. I remember my best friend and I going over hand drawn maps in biology class, running home, calling each other and sitting on the phone playing for hours at night.

I contributed to the Kickstarter that helped get the Shadowgate remake funded, so yeah I'm definitely excited for the chance to finally play it. I never had the NES or Mac originals, but I sank a ton of time into the GBC remake that was made. It's funny, I'm not usually a fan of adventure games where it's possible to screw yourself, but for some reason I still love Shadowgate. Maybe it's the game's music and atmosphere.

That's the thing that gets me about Firefall. For all its development hell and rushed release, it's frustratingly almost good. If the dynamic event stuff worked right (it doesn't), and there was arena PvP (there isn't), and the business model was a little less obnoxious (it's kinda crazy how in-your-face it is) it would probably all come together nicely. There's a bunch of elements there that should add up to a good game, but it feels like there's no glue holding it in place.

It'll either get fixed (ala Defiance, which is well worth playing now) or it'll burn out and nobody will remember it in six months.

Yeah for a game that's been in development for so freaking long, it still feels sadly unfinished. I played the beta waaaaay back, and at that time it felt like a game with a lot of ideas and a lot of potential, but that didn't really have much to do quite yet. Now here we are 2+ years later and it still feels about the same. The 'nothing to do' problem has been hastily papered over with a standard MMO quest system, but if anything that only spotlights the problem. Because so many of the quests are 'go to this waypoint and shoot a thing, now do it 3 more times', and there's no convenient mount or fast travel system. So most of my experience playing the game since release is just running across big empty spaces to get to the next waypoint. I still get that feeling of 'wow, this game is probably going to be awesome once it's released', followed up with '...oh right.'
