Congrats, you now have 90% of the game covered. Max and slot elemental mods at your discretion/ability. Don't bother with "damaged" mods. Get in the clan and ask for copies of the above if you don't have them, or if you're not mastery2 yet, ask for EXP runs of Sechura or wherever.

Wrong.

For one thing, if I wasn't standing on the opposite side of the room, right up against the pit, I couldn't keep my energy up because of the loving energy drain auras. And god forbid that anything should make its way down from the upper-right hand corner of the room, because that's gonna loving wreck anybody watching the pod too intently.

And melee? Forget it. I got in close to do a little work with a channeling-specced Dragon Nikana because I figured I'd just clear the Vortex out quickly with a few finishers. I wound up coming away with less energy than if I'd just thrown a few more Vortexes into the pit for the lulz, and less than half my remaining HP.

Next time, I bring my actual anti-Infested weapons with me.

Channeling on melee is like crit on pistols in that it is never, ever worth it.

Make an Ignis, stick an Electric Mod on it. Won't help you as much as Gas with normal infested, but you'll rip the gently caress out of any Ancients. Also if I'm on, feel free to message me and I'll come along and give you a hand.

Channeling in and of itself is basically just a damage bonus for holding your weapon and using your fancy melee stances, if you can spare the energy. Plus you glow. Glowing is cool.

The problem with channeling mods is, much like every other utility/non damage mod in the game, they take up slots occupied by other raw damage mods.

You can put together a channeling 'set' to reduce the cost of channeled attacks to 1 energy and add various damage bonuses and effects, but I'm not sure that doing so would make up for all the raw damage/element damage/status chance you would lose.

It uses 5 energy per enemy hit by melee but increases damage done by at least half, potentially much more with mods. However you can't do it with the quick-melee so forget it if you aren't planning to put your gun down. There are also some mods to add stuff like life steal when you are channeling. It looks like most of those make the channeling cost more to compensate.

I appreciate the offer. I probably won't be able to take you up on it, though. I'm shepherding my own three little ducklings through Warframe as it is, and squad sizes being what they are...

Because when I'm not shepherding a trio of ducklings that needed something or another that drops from Eris, I'm a Loki. Have always been a Loki. Since early beta. So you can sort of see why I'm kind of attatched to melee. Melee 2.0 was literally the worst thing ever for me.

I was thinking more about toxic ancients, toxic eximus, and toxspreys. Do you have a Gram and Cleaving Whirlwind? 'Cause that's pretty much the best melee 2.0 thing if you don't have Brutal Tide.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. Still doesn't make going invisible and turning anything that isn't a Toxic, Shock, or Leech Eximus into julienne fries any less fun than before though, which is why I still do it. Pre-Melee 2.0, I had a Galatine and five-digit charge attacks. These days, I'm sitting on a Dragon Nikana and Decisive Judgement until I can get the Dakra Prime and Crimson Dervish.

Here is what I have presently slotted:

Here is the build in Warframe Builder.

Here is what I would run if I were not running a Channeling build.

I agree that while the non-channeling build does have higher DPS, I lack Voltaic Strike and Fever Strike, as well as having anything better to place in place of Second Wind. At least with how I am set up now, I will gain Stamina with every swing, while maintaining a 1 Energy cost Channel.

Viral is slotted with the intent of rapidly bringing down max HP. Combined with the 400% melee damage bonus from invisibility, this makes short work of many things. It can't hurt you if it's dead, after all. Farming Life Strike may become a priority for me, if I wish to continue this against Toxic Eximus. Maybe Antitoxin as well. It wouldn't hurt if DE would release a mod that protected against Magnetic energy drain, either. (Also, I am distracted by shiny things and I like the weapon glow. ._.) (Also I know about the persistent weapon trail option, but do not like it) (Parenthetical abuse ahoy!)

Furthermore, what damage you see there may not accurately be reflected. There is a bug with Nikana stances that has a hotfix, but is not clear if it has been deployed yet. DERebecca was delightfully vague on when it would be hotfixed: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/222747-nikana-stance-combos-hitting-lower-than-initial-damage-bug-report/

EDIT: Tweaked non-channelling build. It is weird how lovely North Wind and Shocking Touch are compared to Molten Impact and Fever Strike.

The Great Twist
So who is in control of the dojo? I have some really great ideas on how to apply some feng shui to the door-blocking objects while really giving a sense of space. I also have a number of color palettes that would be great for a more french renaissance vibe, rather than the "we're a silver spaceship, in space" theme we have going.

Seriously though, we should really consolidate all these fish ponds into some sort of twisted elevator maze.

Never sell weapons. Other than the Braton Mk 1.

Figure out trading. Sell some prime parts to pubbies for 25-50 plat. (If you don't have any, group up with some Goons and do some Voids.) Buy more weapon slots.

Repeat until you're like me and simultaneously own every gun in the game, all at 30. (Because once you hit mastery 8, you'll have nothing better to do.)

This is dumb. There are a lot of horrid weapons in the game you'll level to 30 then never ever use again ever because they are bad or unfun or bad and unfun and look ugly. The Braton is also a bad gun. Why have a Latron when you have a Latron Prime? Why keep a Gorgon if you don't like having to wait 3 hours while the piece of poo poo revs up?

Sell crap weapons or weapons you don't like. Potato and forma poo poo you love. Have fun doing backflips while gunning down hapless imaginary space men.

Thundercloud posted:

Trading works by inviting someone to your Dojo (or them inviting you to theirs) and then hitting up a console to activate trading. You get X trades per day, X = your mastery rank, starting at mastery rank 2.

Sell your weapons by going into the menu -> equipment -> inventory -> weapons tab -> select crappy weapon -> sell button.
