Movies tend to build more than one of the same prop, especially for things that might suffer some physical abuse. Imagine if Arnold broke the only one they had and production of the whole movie had to stop for a week to get a new one made. I would also expect that each Conan movie had a new set of swords made instead of using the ones from the previous movie.

There are different levels of props with ones that are used in action scenes that look like the prop but will be missing the fine detail/made of cheaper materials and "hero" grade props which are used for costumes and close ups.

You’re welcome. Although I thought this movie was in pretty decent standing. At least the director’s cut.

What are the differences from the theatrical (and cable :P) release?
The Special Edition version (which is on DVD) contains almost half an hour of added material, including a huge extension to the ending involving giant tsunamis that suddenly appear on every coast. First section of this page covers it.

If you were planning to pick this up on DVD, you may want to hold off. Rumor has it its coming to Blu-Ray later this year or early next. A new HD transfer suddenly popped up on premium cable a few months ago.

Go watch Raw Iron: The making of Pumping iron. It kind of ruins Pumping iron as you learn how much is pretty much staged for the cameras.. but then theres a whole host of other awesome stuff they cover that makes it worth it.
