Robin Williams dying makes me glad I don't have a facebook any more. My family was pretty close with his for a long time although I never met him in person (my childhood was loosely analagous to the time when he was white hot famous and busy 24/7). His mother and my grandmother were very good friends, me and my cousins went to a birthday party for his son one time and my Uncle lives in the house right down the street from him. Regardless of this I am 100% sure my facebook is going to be full of my cousins pretending he was like a second uncle to us or something when in reality he was the adulterous, super depressed son of our dead Grandmas bridge partner/drinking buddy. It sucks that he's dead and all because it shows that even people with all the resources in the world can't get the help they need sometimes but social media has really turned over a whole new centipede infested rock in the world of people trying to cash in on tragedy.

My sister is aggressively anti-vaccine and a nurse. So is my mom. It's amazing I survived childhood.  (Her comment was along the lines of "AS A NURSE, VACCINES AREN'T NECESSARY".)

Yeah, suicide is one of the more common trauma triggers (up there with sexual assault). I don't feel comfortable mocking people who have gone through that.

More suicide talk. This is especially difficult for me because 1) I really love my dad and I always grew up thinking he was really good at what he did and 2) because I've wrestled with depression and suicidal thoughts before. But then he posted a thing about Robin Williams ending it with "I'm still speechless at his choosing to leave his children in the lurch." I'm black and he's red

More Robin Williams chat from my "favorite" conspiracy theorist acquaintance. Another friend posted that she was watching Patch Adams which led to 20+ comments about favorite Robin Williams movies. What bothers me about the Christy Mack thing (besides the obvious beating) is that she's a porn star who has sex with other men for a living, and yet the MMA fighter was apparently okay with that, but not with her sleeping with another guy off camera? How do you get to that level of mental division? I mean, I'd never date a porn star anyway, but if I did it sure wouldn't be a serious, long term relationship because I couldn't expect someone who gets paid to have sex with other guys to be in a monogamous relationship. The two are mutually exclusive.
