Like electing right-wingers would be more likely to surrender faster and collaborate with Nazis than electing democratic socialists, or electing republicans rather than democrats could delay US entry into the war by a year or so with potential drastic consequences. I know it was mostly pointless window dressing in hoi2/3 but one can dream
