We have lovely cell coverage, wildlife nearly on par with Australia (Not so much with the venom, but a lot hungrier) and cold rear end weather. If you've never found yourself fearing for your life because Canada at some point, you must live in Vancouver or something.

Whiteycar posted:Both this and hypothermia have happened to me... and I am the least outdoorsy person ever. See, I do spend a lot of time in the backcountry. I've had a grizzly bear sniffing around my tent at 4 am while 40km away from my car, and then two night later it snowed a foot, the tent was collapsed, and I got to hike out in a blizzard. I guess that's a big part of my peeve against people who claim to be outdoorsy when they only ever go out into their suburban yard for the evening. I turn into the "I am NOTHING like you, you suck" and it just makes me an rear end, so whatever. Someone I know posted a buzzfeed video about street harassment after being called a bitch by some dude in the street she ignored, this was the response she got: I especially like #4. Reeks of proto-MRA. "We're talking about one behavior some men do? Well, let me just tell you how women are even WORSE (no judging)"

They just spout off on twitter, like any other rear end in a top hat on the street would do. God forbid you ask them to let their followers know about a charity video game stream, I guess.

Wasn't the robbery video date-stamped June 9th? Or am I thinking of something else? In either case, goddamn, don't shot a guy over petty theft and jaywalking, how are people disagreeing with that.

I think they say the reason they shot him is because he was fighting for the gun with the cop. If that's true, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me. But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was made up, as that sort of thing has happened before. Basically, i'm waiting for the investigation to finish before I draw any conclusions myself. These are the guys that dressed up like video game baddies and pointed assault rifles at city aldermen for existing while black, trying to wrestle the gun away from one of them should probably be considered self-defense

Fighting with the cops gun from over 35 feet away. So I guess it's good they shot him, they stopped Magneto before he could unite the mutants.

The country (or the ghetto or other exclusive social group based on a variety of factors) provides a cultural identity that middle-class white suburbaners tend to lack.

yes, it's a repost of an American thing, the nature of the points and some of the language used really doesn't fit Britain very well (the "press 1 to speak English" might actually be true, but that's in Wales where there are two official languages and the second one, Welsh, has been spoken there longer than English anyway)

I'm quite sure I've never had to press any number for English, and am not sure why it's any different to having to press a particular number to make a complaint, or ask a question, or something.
