Is there a solid 300 Morat Aggression Force list that can be made using the new sculpts?

Also, do Oznat's using the control device count against the link team limit? Or can you have a sectorial link team, and then each Oznat having links?

Am I right in reading that an Oznat using the control device makes the hungries regular and non-impetious?

One of my friends is moaning about the N3 changes, saying that normal rolls caused by combat camo/smoke+visors/guided missiles being gone steals the tactical aspect of the game and reduces everything to stacking FtF rolls. I tried to point out that tactics and good planning can swing a FtF roll really far in one direction and that's tactics, but he's still bummed that camo, smoke grenades and fire lanes are all apparently going to suck now.

So basically he played a game that he reduced to stacking circumstances to get normal rolls, and doesn't want to play a game where he stacks circumstances for a face to face roll...

It seems unlikely that they sat down and decided to make a bunch of rules useless. It seems far more likely that they sat down to change the rules to be different in such a way as to not add up to problematic interactions.

Sounds like if they don't know how to play a game when the specific combos that they are using are removed... the combos were a problem and needed removing.

Sephyr
Aug 28, 2012
I think they tried to remove/spread out some key abilities/items that made or broke units. Melee was almost not worth it without MA3. Warbands and fast movers without smoke were gimped. The HMG made other weapon choices redundant. Hidden Deployment assassins and speculo killers could re move enemies without issue, and so on.

Now everyone gets more options, but they may not be as powerful as the tricks that were removed (as far as we know, of course). Sure, Achilles no longer gets to attack before some runt in CC...but nw he can strike twice with an explosive weapon if he chooses (potentially 6 ARM rolls per order!), which should make even a Jotum flinch, etc.

Funny story. I packed my Infinity stuff to go back to Brazil for vacations, and was pretty much resigned to the fact that it'd explode during transit, what with being in the airplane hold an such.

Got home, unpacked, and surprise, it arrived without a scratch.

Then I set it on my desk, bumped it lightly, causing it to fall on the carpet and both of its wing-things shoot off in different directions.

Wound up playing Antenna Field against the same fun Nomad player against whom I finished out the league a few weeks ago. Here's the table, from my side at the end of the first full game turn:

You can see my link team huddled against the wall there. It almost cost me when he landed a Combat Jump dude packing a shotgun in the open courtyard to the right, which had a door on my team's flank that he could have used to hit four of them with one shotgun attack. Fortunately for me, he failed his PH roll and scattered onto the platform above my link team - and right next to my hidden TO Camo sniper. His guy still wound up killing the sniper after I whiffed like three attempts to gun him down, and I had to run my magister all the way up to the roof on my turn to go get him, but my link team stayed intact.

The scenario was oddly less brutal than I'd been lead to believe, but I think that's partly because we locked down different areas of the board pretty securely. I won the die roll, took initiative, and chose to go second because Antenna Field. He didn't do enough with his first turn to compensate, mostly locking down two of the antennas (on the left of the photo and the one just outside his deployment zone) and putting a total reaction bot covering a third antenna (represented by a box in the plant-y courtyard on the right of the photo). He had an Intruder on the opposite corner of the table from where the picture was taken, which along with marker coverage prevented me from getting at the Alguacil he ran up to cover the antenna on my left. But the middle was open for the taking, so I was able to use Konstantinos to chase his Custodier back into cover and then moved my TO FO into the building to secure the objective with mines. My FO guy survived there in the middle building for the rest of the game, so only the "garden" box on the right side of the photo was really in contention. I managed to grab it for one turn with Konstantinos before he was shot dead. Since neither of us achieved our classified, the game ended 4-2 in my favor (though reading the scenario again, it should have been 6-2 in my favor since I held the middle at the end). He did make a last ditch attempt to dislodge my specialist from the middle building but he simply did not have the orders to make it happen. The most he managed was one face to face roll against my specials, but the TO camo and cover were too much for BS12 to overcome and my FO survived. To be fair, he would have tied the game if he'd dealt any wounds with that attack. The odds were just slim.

The key plays were his combat jump troops scattering and thus eating my time rather than my army, and his total reaction bot being out-shot by my link team's spitfire (which opened the way for Konstantinos to sit on the objective for the decisive point). I've seen total reaction bots commonly and, frankly, I've never seen them do anything except get punked by either a powerhouse link team support weapon or a combat camo attack. The bots' ballistic skill is just too low to save them from the former, and they're not cheap enough to just throw away. I'd rather use dirt cheap impetuous spuds as bullet (and order) soaks instead.

That said, if he'd taken the version with an EM LGL then he probably could have deactivated my link team without too much trouble using indirect fire (especially with his many FOs).

Having played against Ariadna and Haqq a fair few times with my PanO dudes, I'd say that while both aren't quite as potent in a straight up fire fight, Ariadna usually has the better weapon load outs and can generally straight out gun you with numbers. Their tricks mostly boil down to camo shenanigans and many HMGs (and other nasties) to the face. Usually deploying right in your face with plenty of infiltration.

Haqq I feel don't have the same level of offensive weaponry, but have a far wider assortment of tricky poo poo to deal with. Not as much straight up camo, but a lot of stuff like impersonation, holo projecters and a good variety of specialist troopers.

I feel they're not quite as spammy as Ariadna but both will usually have pretty large unit lists. The different sects are all pretty varied though.

Play what you like aesthetically. Haqq definitely has the deeper bag of tricks though. Circle Orboros is not a bad analogy unless you're planning to play QK, which is much more face-stompy with the multiple link teams.
