Hopefully they will be cheap too. Carlos said 4 sets will do a full size table. Pair that with the new rubber play mat which looks unreal.

Thanks. :) I'm painting with all GW paints. :shobon:

The mini is primed black. The fatigues are Balor Brown, Ushtabi Bone, and White Scar. The armour is Caledor Sky with a few layers of a mix of Caledor Sky and White Scar mixed in an increasingly brighter tone. After a few touch-ups I hit the whole thing up with Agrax Earthshade and then did a few highlights of the final colors. The whole mini from assembly to done took about 50 minutes.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there aren't currently any plans for a new Speculo Killer model. CB just wanted to update the dossier for 3rd edition. This is the same for Yu Jing's Yaokong remotes as well.

I don't understand the Beacon Race mission. Played a game of it last night and it seems to me that there is no way that you're going to get more than a couple of beacons in play at any time during 3 turns of this game. It just seems so unlikely to come down to anything else but a shootfest.

There are two game stores in town, neither play Infinity and only one carries Infinity and their stock is shrinking as nobody plays so they don't restock.

What is the best way to go about starting game play? Are there any solid tutorials I can point to or use to tailor my demos? What has worked for you when you tried to start Infinity in your area?

We usually start our demos on a simple 3-model vs 3-model line troop kind of game and do a little move and shoot action to demo the ARO system and the whole cover/range band/critical dice. If they're down with that we'll bring in a few more models to go through camo and mines and specialists and whatnot, and eventually build towards hackers and tags and the like.

Honestly, reading through the booklet, the IceStorm demos are pretty well exactly the way to go for getting someone new into the system. I'd say get a set, paint it up all nice and run it for a bunch of folks.

An aside question: Where the hell is the Nomad Impersonator? Shouldn't Praxis be on this poo poo? I want to see a metachemistry shapeshifter with advanced Impersonation and IKhol, dammit!

Icestorm really is amazing. Each mission introduces new concepts to keep things easy. The first is to show how orders and AROs work with small teams. The next brings lieutnants into the equation. The third bring a unit of camo/drop for each, and so on.

If you'd rather do your own thing, there are a few basics. First, start with 3-5 models on each side, and no Loss of Lieutnant so one person doesn't auto-lose while learning how AROs are a bitch.

Second, don't be afraid to add a few special tricks on each side, but keep it balanced. A minelayer, or a hacker in a map with hackable doors that can be opened/shut, really help show how different and dynamic the game is. The same goes for a doctor with his little slavebots.

Third, offer to have them switch armies after the first game so they each get a feel of what the other guy played with and what it can do.

Finally, let them pre-measure and undo a few moves at first if they mess up bad. Teaching games that end quickly because someone messed up end up teaching very little.

Thanks for the advice everybody. While I don't think I'll be picking up ice storm, I will try to get the books from it to run some demo stuff. I have a pile of Ariadna painted already, and I have PanO on deck so I should be good for starter armies.

Been on bit of an Infinity craze this last month, and I ended up picking up two new factions to play around with.

First was NCA, since I had a few PanO units sitting around that I bought 2nd hand and figured it wouldn't cost much more to build a full list. I've only played one game with them, but they are loving fun. The Aquila and Swiss guards are such massive beasts. They pretty much just sat in cover all game, covering huge swathes of the board. Auxillia FO's are excellent too. Two objective capable specialists for 20 points. Other than that though, there a pretty threadbare faction.

Second is the Shasvastii, which I sold my entire vanilla Ariadna army for. I'm thinking they'll play somewhat similarly, though with far less firepower in terms of mans and weapons and more need for subterfuge and careful board control. Was hoping to get away without having to use Seed Soldiers as they seem pretty lackluster even as order bots, though that could be a big mistake. Though toying around with army builder I can still get a 8-9 orders at 250pts, which is usually fine for my PanO armies, but not too sure how that maps into things with CA.

Add to that a whole unpainted army of Tohaa and Operation:Icestorm incoming and I should have enough to last me till the new sects are released, when I'll probably convince myself I need more armies.

It's a loving cool time to be an Infinity fan.

This is the exact thing I've been playing around with for the last few weeks. I'm finding it's too much a points sink, to have those heavy units, but honestly they're really coming close to swinging the game for me. I am running a Swiss Guard Hacker and an Aquilla and a whole shitload of robots and it's crazy bad but fun.

The thing that absolutely blows my mind is that there is only a single lovely WIP12 engineer in the whole army. It's maddening.

Well, lovely WP Specialists is kinda PanOs thing in general I guess. But yeah, I can imagine games going south really quickly once you lose your Swiss and Aquila, and despite having good stat lines, they don't really have any survival skills, a good crit or unlucky roll will sink them.
Bu they're such huge threats that you can usually just sit them somewhere over an objective and watch your opponent burn orders trying to murder them while you run around with your auxillias and score points.

How did the Swiss Hacker work out for you? I kinda only ever want to take those units as heavy fire support since it would almost be too expensive to run otherwise. That and the Deva Functionary seems to be an amazing option as a hacker. Though I suppose it allows him to take objectives and BS 13 with BTS -6 makes him a pretty drat good defensive hacker.

SGH is a good combat hacker but it suffers from the problem of when paying that many points for a model, you really kind of need/want it to have a special weapon. I've played it a few times but every tournament I've played in, it never makes the cut over an ALEPH Deva Hacker.

A faction specific blog? That's pretty neat.

Though reading the first thing on the page about the Speculo Killer seems a bit harsh on it. I guess it may seem obvious if you're playing Shavastii, most of the time you'll know you're probably going up against the Speculo and deploy accordingly, but with the load out it has, I always pictured it as something that could efficiently bleed orders from a list rather than something that has to necessarily take a gamble on one shotting a TAG.

Good to see they're not too big on running Seed Soldiers either.

I'm far from a good or knowledgeable Infinity player, so take my words with a grain of salt. We also don't have anything approaching complete information about N3. From what I've seen so far though, it looks really good. The new range bands for guns seem to do a good job at creating more specialization and bringing outliers in line. They are reducing/eliminating the amount of uncontested rolls you can create, giving the defender at least the chance to dodge. The close combat changes look really good as well, they are drastically boosting the melee skill ceiling and using that statline to define melee specialists, while their special abilities (such as i-kohl, berserk, the various martial arts) are becoming interesting modifiers that create a lot of crunchy decision making when you engage in CC.

Also lots and lots of charts! A big point during the N3 presentation is that the one part of the previous rulebook they never received any complains about were the weapon charts. So they made a big effort in this rulebook to present as much information as possible as charts.
