I said it last week, and I'll say it again this week: The creators of this show had it confirmed to them by HBO almost exactly a year ago. They knew since at least September that this would be the last season. They had minimum 11 months to write, prepare, film, edit, etc. And this was the best final season they could come up with in that time. And that says a lot.
