It's probably too soon to tell, but has anything supplanted underworld metals as the go-to "click button > get money" companion gathering skill yet on JC? Since I didn't know what Thermal Regulators were, I looked them up and found interesting info on 450 slicing.

Is SWTOR going to be expanded / remarketed, etc. in connection with the release of SW Episode VII? I haven't played SWTOR in ages but I've been thinking of giving it another go and am wondering whether significant changes are on the horizon.

(Apologies if this has already been covered - I looked back over the last few pages and didn't see anything.)

First off, thanks a ton to everyone who helped us purchase the guild ship and make a good headstart on expanding it. Our collaborative effort got us over 20 million credits over the course of the last week.

A big thumbs-up goes to all-around cool guy Medullah, who donated a cool 5 million. He's such a cool guy, in fact, that he passed on his prize of a cartel hypercrate, which means...

The winner of a hypercrate of Gatekeeper's Stronghold packs is TeeMerk, who had the next highest total with 3 million. Let me know either here or in-game, and I can mail it or hand it over or whatever.

Other notable donors who contributed 1 million or more are: Hulk Smash!, Blhue, Dr. Tough, wtftastic, Alter Ego, superjx, Bedurndurn, Zakkai, Podiat, Insensitive_Asshole, and hundredbears.

Further contributors were: Ainsley McTree, Aubergine Mage, prb79, Hotlanta'man, Crindee, Desht, ohsodark1986, waffledoodle, Carb, Insert name here, and JediBlutarsky.

I'd also like to thank folks like Eskie, VonLudwig, hobbesmaster, and everyone else who has raided with us over the months for helping to build our funds up over the long haul.

If you see any of these folks around, buy them a drink at the Space Bar, because they made it happen.

Just glad I could help make our giant ship full of half-naked Twi'lek dancers a reality. :tipshat:

There might be the obligatory tie in content, but I doubt it'll be any sort of rework.

The big story at the moment is apparently all about finishing up the Revan and Emperor plot lines. Presumably the content update after this one is where the poo poo will start to hit the fan, what with what appears to be Revan's cult firing up an army of super powered cyborg fish men on Manaan. Never mind the constant mentions of unknown Rakatan ruins still to be found in its depths.

Say what you will about the Revan's cult arc, but you have to admire their dedication to super-villainy. That idea is so wonderfully stupid that within the context of the setting it spins back around to being brilliant and actually useful. Plus that last fight on Manaan is Michael Bay as gently caress.

Soooo... conquests.

While we didn't place on the leaderboard first time out, we also didn't get blown out by orders of magnitude like I was afraid we might. Moving forward, I think we'll be able to place better because: the repeatable one-time goal bug has been fixed, I'll pick a planet more suited to our strengths, and half of the conquests have more than three planets to conquer which should split the competition further.

Why does getting on the leaderboard matter? Well, we're about out of room on our guild ship already, and we need plenty more space to throw down our awesome decorations. In order to expand the ship, we need between 2-6 Frameworks (purple things) per expansion.

There are two ways to get purple things, either as a drop from a planetary commander or by trading in 50 Encryptions (blue things). Blue things can be earned from commanders, or from trading in Dark Projects, or as a reward to each character who meets his/her conquest goal in a week that their guild makes the leaderboard.

Now, since the commanders seem to be camped constantly by the larger, more organized guilds, they're not exactly a reliable source. I have yet to even see one in the wild. Run the math on crafting 50 Dark Projects per purple, and that doesn't look too feasible either. That makes guild conquest rewards our best option for getting the bits we need.

We had a lot of people active this week, and it was really cool seeing people getting together groups every night to run flashpoints and heroics. I'm going to try to pick a planet next time that gives bonuses for flashpoints or crafting, but not warzones. Hopefully, that will play to our strengths and keep us from going head-to-head with the bigger PVP guilds. Assuming the servers are up, I'll pick a planet and commit our ship before work tomorrow so we can get a head start. If they're not, I won't be able to move it until tomorrow evening, so make sure to check before you go all out on farming points.

Something to remember about conquest points is that it's better to get 35k conquest points on two characters than 70k on one. From a guild perspective, points are points BUT you get some pretty drat good rewards for finishing your personal conquest goals. You get a container that contains 3 random crafting nodes for your stronghold. I have a feeling these are going to start selling pretty high once some of the rarer ones pop up - I know that personally, I am always running out of Quick Growth whatever it is on my Biochem, so having an "infinite" supply is huge. Same with color crystals - I got a color crystal node, and those are used in crafting the stronghold decoration parts.

I will try to hit 35k on my Assassin this week, and if we get the crafting bonus, I'll be crafting a ton on my Sorcerer because she's got the +5 crit droid.

Makeb was a breeze, even more so with that boost they got on. 150k XP just for shuttling to each platform.

Episode VII is going to have literally absolutely nothing to do with any expanded universe material and likely vice versa.

Isn't ToR set thousands of years before the films anyway? How could they have anything to do with anything?

It's literally in the final story mission on Corellia, "Chaos and Harmony." To be safe just always pick 1 on that mission unless you're playing dark side.

For people who have done it, if you tell Syo to be at peace instead of outright tell him to fight the First Son's control, he just flops over and dies and he doesn't end up redeemed.

Dulfy is sort of the gold standard, but those are endgame builds; if you're leveling, some of the rotations won't really come together until you unlock some key abilities and talents (although I think by level 50, most of them should be pretty applicable).

I'm not aware of any particularly great leveling rotation builds; there might be some stuff on the official forums, but I can't point you to anything specific.

Honestly though, leveling in this game isn't really so hard that it requires perfect play; as long as you keep at least equal level to the content you're playing (even better if you can overlevel a little), and keep your gear within at least 4 or so levels to your current level (my current strategy is to max planetary comms, and then spend them on upgrading my orange gear), nothing should give you too much trouble. Just play around with your damaging abilities and use your cooldowns as they seem to make sense, keeping the dulfy guides in mind as something to aim for eventually.

"I want to see what she's in love with."

One thing that I recall, though this might be out of date, is that the weaker enemies still put out a fair amount of damage, so killing them quick is usually a good idea. With 2 of you, you really shouldn't run into any trouble, the game is pretty much set up to run solo+companion for most stuff. What sort of 'ability rotation' you use will be dependent on how the group of enemies are set up, and I doubt anything will be tuned tight enough that you need optimal rotations.

Some enemies have high damaging channeled/casts that interrupting is a good idea. Carrying some medpacks, or grabbing biochem or whatever it is called to make piles of them can also be handy in a pinch.

Good to hear, was a little worried they would amp up the difficulty going from 50 to 55. I'll just stick with my old tank spec that I used way back when. My gear is 126/140 stuff so that should be fine starting off.

When in doubt, you can always run the new (to you) Kuat Drive Yards flashpoint over and over again to gain some levels. It's available after level 15 and you're bolstered in it, so it doesn't matter what level you are (though I think it penalizes you if your gear is outdated; I don't really know for sure, though). It isn't very hard, and it's probably the most efficient XP-grinder in the game (you gain a level every 2-3 runs, usually; if there's a better way to grind, I don't know it), so it's always there for you if you need to gain some levels before you go back to story content.

If you're level 50, you should go to Makeb if you need gear. It's mega easy now that you can "register" at the terminals to get bolstered. Your gear gets bumped up to 156, and you get a constant regen ability on you. It becomes easy mode. Easy way to get from 50-55.

Quite the opposite, in fact. The latest patch retuned the planet Makeb, where the 50-55 story takes place, by reducing the number of mobs, making a few quests easier, and adding a buff station that will boost your health and auto-heal you during fights.

Removing it is fine; after running the Bitraider uninstaller, edit the below lines in the launcher.settings file (open with notepad) located in the main SWTOR directory
