Its true. I do a lot of work for and with Lan Su so I do shoot there a lot. Not much recently, but now that fall approaches, its time to start shooting the decay. Ive also shot a few different angles of that Moon Gate before.

I am interested in the post-production of these pictures. I almost never use photoshop (or any program) to touch up my photos but I want to start. I am wondering if there is are specific things you do for almost all your pictures, or if its more of a each picture gets its own attention. I really love the way the objects in the foreground look and wanted to know if there are any tips that you have.

yeah, for some reason the 500px resized images can look funky when linked to directly for some reason.

Nothing too fancy really. To start with the second two were taken with a 10-stop ND filter and either 2-stop soft edge or 3-stop hard edge Grad ND, the first with just a Grad ND. Brought down the highlights and boosted the shadows in Lightroom to increase the contrast and then some curves adjustment. I used the Nik Collection for further processing, Dfine to reduce noise and then Color Efex Pro. With the latter I like to use some combination of Tonal Contrast/Pro Contrast/Bleach Bypass (with no saturation adjustment) to increase contrast in the mids and shadows. Then selective sharpening for the foreground.

If you become fatigued while post-processing an image, stop, have a break and come back to it later. It's exactly the same when mixing music, after a while you're not capable of making good decisions any more.
