This is a world with chi wielding karate people. I suspect that a few can naturally survive shots and explosions. They just need to pose and have their shirts explode off of them when it happens.

Yeah, Jee-han's getting rich as hell just from playing the "game" and using his abilities as Gaia intended. It certainly seems like he could use all that money to set up a fake doctor's office and get to healing just about everybody.

I'm glad that he's hopped right to grinding for the cure though. It's pretty amazing how OP he's become since back when he was panicking while swinging wildly at zombies with a bat.

I expect the evil forces will make their move soon. His mom being out of town is the perfect prelude to serious poo poo going down and either needing his attention for a long period of time or beating him up badly enough that even his healing skills/auto-healing while sleeping doesn't let him recover fully.

Please don't make me remember Oblivion grinding, as well. SO much time spent running and jumping around the capital city while conjuring things.

Yup. He could pull off curing cancer if he could play it off as him just being some sort of ridiculously good cancer surgeon, but that's not going to happen unless he actually goes through med school and all that.

There are always going to be security cameras.

Basically the very best he could do is be around as an underground physician. Even if he took the time to make it through med school, he can't just magically cure cancer because the medical community would ask how the hell he did that. At best he could get so smart that he figures out how to do it on his own, but as he's pointed out this chapter having a high INT only seems to help his memorization.

It all comes down to needing more WIS. :v:

The whole point of this seems to be very similar to World of Darkness style paradox. You're fine if you're using powers subtly, or inside illusion barriers, but prepare to have the universe kick the poo poo out of you if you show the norms that you have supernatural abilities.

Yeah, but isn't the purpose of injuring himself to get his physical damage resistance up? I want to see where he gets shot and the bullet wound only leaves a small black and blue mark.

I keep expecting his wisdom to go up on its own as he continues to multi-task his grinding.

I understand the need to show that this guy had to grind, as a gamer, his abilities, but he's been basically grinding now for like 20 chapters. We had a date with a girl, some almost-plot thing happened, and his mom moved away. Otherwise, he's been grinding forever.

Maybe it's time for some more almost-plot stuff?

If you consider the length of time between content updates for Korean MMOs, then we're not budging close to the next portion of plot. Time for more and more grind with some sprinkles of item progression here and there. This is truly the Korean MMO of comics.

The physical resistance skill was just a nice surprise. The chapter clearly stated that he was hurting himself to grind his heal spell.

I like how Gnome is actually completely impassive at all times like you would expect a low level earth elemental to be, but because the one facial expression it has is a smile it seems like it is really into all this grinding.

So far we haven't seen her in a situation that would seem like she'd be sad. We've seen her get summoned and thus make a new friend, and we've seen her murdering oni with a spear, and we've seen her smacking a guy with a big club. All situations where she'd be happy as gently caress.

And another thing I'd try to grind is the 'physical resistance' skill, and figure out what other skills exist that would let me outright ignore damage. And I'd probably grind it with actually trying to dodge the hits. You know, something that's not shouting out fake move names in attempt to cheat getting them.
I pretty much called it. I guess the question now is if 'physical damage resistance' actually counts ranged attacks as well. Arrows/bullets and the like. It would be kind of bad if he thinks he's fine but almost dies from trying to tank projectiles.

Chaos341

Arrows are physical. If it was Melee Damage Resistance you would have a point.

Kgummy

Well remember that this is translated, and just because it says 'physical damage' doesn't mean that 'melee damage' is what the author meant.

Granted, I don't know any Korean, nor know if in this particular instance there is an overlap of terms. But as of yet, I don't think Jee-Han has been hit with any ranged weaponry, so confirmation either way isn't certain.

I mean, it's already kind of cheaty that practicing against blunt weaponry protects from slashing/piercing weaponry. He has only been actually hit with blunt weapons, hasn't he? In all likelihood it does indeed at least covers all melee weapons.

Now that's a rather silly stretch. What you're saying is the same as "They could've mistranslated cheese as nuke, so that 'cheese' sandwich could blow up the city!" As for me, I'll just accept it means 'physical damage'.

One of my friends and I were discussing how clearly what he needs to do is put on his weighted clothing, grab a book, turn on his spirit technique, and have gnome chase him around hitting him, while he heals.

Alternatively, do it on the ogre zone, dodge ogre hits for agi, and throw some mana arrows at poo poo, to level that too.

I'm reminded of Oblivion, where you could achieve >100% "Physical Damage Reflection" which would make you immune to melee attacks... but you'd still take damage from arrows. So it seems plausible enough for me, since it's already happened in a Western made game which didn't even have translation issues to worry about.

Doesn't mean it's also the case here, but it does mean I wouldn't be too surprised if it was.
