So re: Cheyenne/Squadron Commanders being relieved, this happened today. For those keeping score at home, that would be the fourth SQ/CC Rhatigan has relieved recently, plus a DO scheduled to take command this summer. I hear they play this in place of the AF Song at Little Rock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B0CyOAO8y0 e: The new guy just needs to preempt Rhatigan.

I have it on good authority that the Brits on Diego Garcia love margaritas. Pack a blender and you'll be the life of every party. And if the Special Boat Service offers to take you on one of their command directed "patrols," take them up on it.

Get your boat license at DG, it's a pretty tiny amount of money to rent a Mako boat for a whole day and just tool around the lagoon. The exchange there has plenty of water stuff but I would suggest if you're gonna take up diving, fishing, scuba, etc. go ahead and get equipment before you arrive.

History isn't a cycle, it's a playlist. I know your gonna laugh and eye roll, but I am not kidding when I say this little slice of Americana is one huge 702 target at this point. I'm just gonna start openly acknowledging the fact that we're being collected on until I get sat down by some AFOSI kid with daddy's first BOGO Joseph A. Bank "suit" and a supercuts trend setting 2 on the side 4 on top and I'm told to shut up and color or lose my pension. I felt safer when we had a loving federales and Bizzaro SWO Lesbian John McCaine as moderators. It's pleasant seeing the quickening approach though, lol.

Yeah they rubberstamped my TSEC but the instant I go to mental health suddenly it has to get temp suspended. aaaaaaaaaaaa vvv It's getting worked. My superintedent is furious that they even mentioned it to anyone before submitting paperwork or at least talking to him, since he's also the security manager. It also can't be my review because I haven't even held my clearance long enough to need a review in the first place. Larry Parrish fucked around with this message at 20:20 on Aug 29, 2014 |

You've been fed a line of bullshit. The only way it would pop up in the system would be if you didn't mention it on your SF-86 when you do your periodical review. You need to talk to your IP folks ASAP, as they are the ones who manage these things. I've never seen a clearance, Secret, TS, or otherwise suspended simply because someone went to mental health.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure your commander can't unilaterally suspend your clearance either. He can put you on duties not having access to classified, and recommend actions to the security manager, but I don't think he can just decide to suspend your access on his own.

Hey, you need to get with one of us older guys- pick one of the guys that isn't as crazy as me or as medicated, and have them help you understand how to contact ADC, and how to start writing memos. There's processes in place to protect you, and the government here. Both need to be followed, And my gut says "told I have lost my clearance after one trip to Mental Health" sounds like you are being misled, lied to, misunderstood, or you are somehow more cray cray than even me. And do you really think that's the case? So yeah, get someone you can trust to help you IRL @ your base. But also, and I'm serious here.. Stay calm, it's all good man. Enjoy the long weekend, don't do stupid things like drink or any mind altering poo poo right now. Holidays + a Stress + military + mental health? We lose guys around here with those combos and your current vector- so please be careful man. Just be safe and stay calm.

He can prevent you from accessing classified. He can order you not to handle classified information. He cannot unilaterally revoke your eligibility for access to classified information however. Security decides who has clearance, command decides who has need to know and access. You need a clearance, authorized access and it's attendant NDA, and need to know to legally work with classified info for the United States. Your commander has 2 of the 3 keys, you need all 3, but there's rules for how and for what reasons your commander can yank access. It's all in the AFI's but gently caress looking that up on Labor Day weekend. You are right though.

I worked on an SIF file to revoke someone's clearance and it's a pretty laborious process that requires at least center-level approval (and I think had to be routed through the MAJCOM) and is worked through the security manager. No way can a commander do anything formal.
