Since it seems to be the talk of the town I just wanted to let you all know that I don't really care about the subject of MAD comics Also, if you happen to be in Helsinki, go check out the art gallery Art Kaarisilta, there's a Fok_It exhibition going on as part of the Helsinki Comics Festival. Mari Kasurinen likes to turn My Little Ponies into pop culture icons for some reason. I've seen worse hobbies.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was, Has anyone else noticed that Hey Look! (Kurtzman's stuff in general,) looks an awful lot like a more talented, actually Funny Darren Bell bit? That's how you can tell it's not his though, because it's actually hand drawn (not cut and pasted) and is actually amusing.

Shugojin posted:Yeah I kinda wanna know if it came closer to humor than occasional brushes with insufferable smugness. Agreed. I've often heard that Funky Winkerbean used to be a wacky joke-a-day like the title implies and then over time Batiuk decided he wanted to make Real Art. I'd be interested to see if that's true or if it's the same McEldowney effect that made us think Chickweed used to be good. Luann Presumably Rosa has some Spanish under her belt. I wonder how Gunther's is? Also, bummer! They only get to do menial stuff?? I'd have thought their shiny new American high school diplomas would allow them to do emergency surgery in Peru! There's a bonus today, too, so... All you "cleft palate" and "breast cancer survivor" and "horrific disfiguring accident" people need to wake up and smell the botox! Plastic surgery is Bad and Shallow and only Bad Shallow People perform it! Hey, on the bright side, I guess they didn't need to know Spanish after all!
