2. Opie saying, "Ice BOCKET challenge" got old real loving quick and made me angry.

I've been listening to old bits a lot lately. Opie saying "fujitive" during the fugitive stuff (even after he was corrected) is annoying as hell. He also kept calling the resturaunt "TGI Fridays" as TGIF. I don't know if people actually calling it TGIF but to me TGIF will always mean fridays on ABC.

Not only was Michael Sam cut from the big team, the Rams outright released him and he went through waivers without a peep from any other team. That's gotta be good for another two stents.

I'm wondering if a sane doctor is just going to order some bypasses and we'll have a Fez-less year where he can deal with life and the radio show can recover. I'm so sick of him at this point I just want him gone and that seems like the only way that's going to happen.

You'd be surprised how many people are saying some variation of that today. The Verge wrote a similar article where they were helldumping Twitter people who complained about the NSA while also tweeting that the celebrities shouldn't have taken nude photos or uploaded them to iCloud (VICTIM SHAMING :qq:)

No idea, but they got the voice down right. It's not even about Michael Sam, it's about poor Fez being discriminated against by the voices in his head. The comments are amazing, calling him out on the steakgate thing and being a general nutcase.

I dunno, to be fair Jimmy was going after people like Perez Hilton too for exploiting stuff like this. I kinda get the point he's trying to make, even if I don't fully agree with his attitude towards the outcome. He's saying that we as Americans create this environment with our disregard to privacy and he's pretty much right. The difference he ignores is that the paparazzi is a helluva lot less insidious than the federal government. There's a difference between a dickbag photographer sneaking pics over your fence and the government collecting data without warrant that they can randomly use to put you on a no-fly list without you ever being able to know the reason why or disappearing you to a prison without trial or assassinating you via drone. But at the same time, most Americans don't care about the NSA because they go, "Well, I've got nothing to hide. And besides, terrorists are scary." And they tune in to TMZ and the like because our culture loves it when celebrities are humiliated and taken down. Nobody thinks about what it would be like if their own nude pictures were posted online-- which is something that happens quite a lot, so-called revenge-porn, where girls' pics are put out so that people can stalk and harass them.

I'm as big a critic of Jimmy's dumb political poo poo as anyone; but I don't know that he's as wide of the mark here as we sometimes like to think. I just think he's bad at expressing it. Saying "Americans deserve the NSA" is dangerously glib, yes. But I understand the sentiment behind what he's trying to get across. A better way would be to humanize the victims and implore people to imagine if it was their sister or good friend or they themselves that had this happen.

Then again, we're talking about an audience made up of people that would call up the gently caress You line to complain about how they bought some "oval office" a shot and she didn't blow them in return.

I sort of agree with him on this double standard. And I do think people care about privacy when it comes to themselves but for others they don't care.

Jim might fall into that category too since he was part of the show that released the Anthony Weiner dick pics.

another shit post

At least Jimmy has softened on a related issue over time, he used to demand that everyone posting poo poo online should have to use their real identity, and now that he's seen how people rat each other out and how disproportionately some are punished for just a few words on a website, he's not so sure of that anymore. I don't remember when he admitted to that but I was glad to hear it.

Really? I thought today's show with Bonnie and Rich was one of the better ones they've done in a while. It was a little too much with the ketchup talk for 45 minutes but other than that the guest was interesting and Rich & Jim had some good insults today.

I also have to say that I'm secretly loving The Anthony Cumia Show. I don't care for the political talk but Anthony is the best at taking phone calls and making GBS threads on every single one of them.

quote:

I'm in-the-know pretty deep with someone who works on the show, and here's what happened: Apparently, Opie is now in Full God Mode. Seeing Anthony get fired scared the poo poo out of him despite all his tough talk about management. He's convinced himself that he can save the sinking ship that is his show, and starting to lose his mind.

The big shake-up behind the scenes came last week when Opie stated that he was going to start bringing his son on the show as a "new bit". They'd ask him questions like KIDS SAY THE DAMNEDEST THINGS and let him interview guests. Opie thinks this would be a hit new segment, but half of the staff outright refused. Only the Opie boot lickers went along with this idea.

In the end, they managed to talk Opie down to having a vote about it, and he lost. Most of the staff expects to be let go regardless of how contract negotations end up.

Ant is very aware of his criticisms and is going out of his way to make sure that he doesn't go overboard with race/politics. I haven't heard anything even close to his old O&A rants on his new show. Opie seems to be going in the exact opposite direction of being self-aware.

I refuse to believe this. I refuse to believe a guy who is as thin-skinned as Opie would think putting his son on the radio would be a good idea.

Yeah those gave me some of the best laughs last week. Anthony would take a call, it would be somebody asking Anthony about his opinion on whatever race issue and Anthony would creatively make fun of them and hang up, and then say "yeah I'm not going to go into that."

I'm giving Ant's show a shot and it's surprisingly good. The episodes with guests seem much better than when he's alone. But even alone he isn't bad.

Isn't it really hard to get to Ant's place to do the show though? Jimmy was complaining about the traffic. I guess Colin had to take the train in. That might be his biggest issue to getting decent guests. I still think he'd be better off pre-recording some stuff for the show.
