It's usually just the one person's thoughts, and then everyone else calling them a dumbass. Also I have never reported a post in my life.

I've heard Night Vale is good--it's sort of like a new Twilight Zone in radio serial format (cue goons telling me how wrong I am). Fplus is a funny podcast as well--it's basically a podcast of that one guy who enthusiastically reads weekend web posts, with some riffing thrown in. As for funny political/news podcasts I recommend This Week in Blackness and Citizen Radio. The former is self-explanatory and the latter often invited improv people so they're more funny with some politics thrown in than the former

I wonder what finally killed Xylo: following the cartoons thread and posting until he got his av, or policing the I/P and Michael Brown threads Below: I don't understand--what are you saying? That the girl didn't want to be there, that the gun range hosed up on the paperwork, and the instructor was unlicensed/uncertified, and the parents knew all this and went along anyway? Range should be shut down and sued for all it's worth IMO and the parents should be charged with reckless endangerment of a minor. visceril fucked around with this message at 16:06 on Sep 3, 2014 |

Eh, there's no where else to talk about it, so gently caress it. More details have come out about the 9 year old who totally domed her instructor with sick nasty wall hacks: the girl complained about how the gun hurt her shoulder and the parents didn't realize the slumped over (former) instructor until staff had come over to apply aid (head on? Apply directly to forehead?), the waivers mysteriously turned into paper airplanes and flew away in the wind, and no charges are going to be filed because it was a clean kill.

Didn't the gun range next door immediately raise its minimum age to 12 following this? Hopefully the kid eventually realizes that at 9 she was already smarter than a whole bunch of adults within a half mile radius of that place when that idiot got killed.

Impressed someone managed to accomplish what virtually every rule and many features at a gun range are designed to prevent.

Lol yep someone who is 33% of their life away from being able to drive a car under adult supervision, 50% of their life away from being smart enough to gently caress or cast a vote, and almost double their entire life away from being trusted with a can of beer is definitely ready to start using a deadly weapon. Yep, nothing wrong here.

She had an advantage over all the adults around there because exposure over many years to NRA bullshit about how guns are basically toys and not highly dangerous tools/deadly loving weapons is deleterious to your common sense.

Guns, which were invented, improved and perfected to kill things and have no other purpose, are not dangerous in any way because if they were, hell, it would be pretty irresponsible to treat them like we do.

If by "involved" you mean "signed up in good faith, pulled out when contractual obligations were not met" Night vale badly needs to retire some storylines, every episode is just small updates on established stuff now and they haven't introduced anything new in a long time. Doesn't mean the earlier episodes aren't still great for new listeners, though

Don't be ridiculous. What we really need are MORE guns. Someone should get one of the major arms manufacturers to make a gun suitable for tots.

Of course, the resulting shooting is "God's will" and "something that you can't prepare for", since no one could possibly predict that giving a five-year-old a .22 rifle would end up in someone getting shot.

I would rather talk about how it was safer for me to fire a 8 gauge at the age of 8 than this girl to fire a Uzi (Rocksalt, crows, farming, amusement of adults, went rear end over teakettle) than hear about the tumblrcon ball pit. I can't think of a gun worse for a 9 year old to fire. The drat thing is essentially designed to rotate around your hand. Longarms at least have some stability to them. Edit: PLAYING with the Cricket? Oh hell naw.

Nah, it was my job. Feed the chickens (get chased by the chickens), feed the goats (get bit by the goats), and scare the crows. Bang! (tumble tumble tumble) Reload... Bang! (tumbletumbletumble). An 8 gauge is... er. .87 caliber. Adult supervision was mandatory for so many reasons. (they were all laughing at me.)

Roman/ancient history thread is good though it too eventually becomes circlejerky and repetitive. I think it's just kind of the nature of history threads since there's only so many experts (self proclaimed or actual) on a given subject on the forums and they can only make so many effortposts about what they know before they've covered most of it but the thread still lingers on.
