lol if you're not in a 24/7 state of arousal waiting for the new album to drop super lucky i have a cooldad and brother who both like aphex twin. when king of limbs came out we sat around and listend to it together for the first time. i'm sure we'd do that with this album but unfortunately i'm in NC.

new death from above album is kinda weak, relatively speaking it's not bad just not as awesome as i hoped it would be the second half of the album is pretty great though

syscall girl posted:it's a pretty lazy song that samples baby got back and features minaj's (admittedly very nice) butt a great deal lazy is an understatement because when i first heard the hook to that song i was incredibly hyped and excited and actually said it is finally happening, it took 20 years but its happening it really let me down, it was not the super star rap over baby got back that i was hoping for and isn't even worth mentioning as nicki minaj rapping is concerned also lol if you don't think that you're hating music because you're getting old and new things will forever be inferior to old things for you MALE SHOEGAZE posted:nicki minaj, lady gaga, etc, are best when you realize that they are making sci fi/fantasy music set in a post-sexism utopia

the new aphex track has gotten me back into idm for the first time in years. apart from old releases and autechre it's hard to find good new stuff in this dead nerd genre. the new plaid is pretty ok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ6I6J0yrHQ squarepusher sadly seems like he's trying to be another deamau5 or something, look at this poo poo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvLAKrVbCBM ugh. if anyone has been keeping up over the past 5 years please let me know if there are any non autechre/RDJ releases that are essential

i really could not listen to dark side of the moon for the best part of a decade thanks to overindulgence + the aforementioned dadrock radio. relatively recently i listened to it end to end again and its a pretty goddamn good record, no doubt. kind of shame that it's been beaten death really

also vinyl lp supremacy not for sound quality (lol) or even artwork, but because you better say what you need to say in about 40 minutes (or have a drat good reason to spend the money on a double album). gently caress all this overindulgent WE CAN RECORD THIS TRIPE FOREVER AND NEVER TRIM THE FAT because infinite recording and playback time

kashmir has not been worn down on me (or any of zep's tracks) because i never got to listen to dadrock as a child and therefore there are a bunch of tracks i get to look forward to listening to at some point i really like kashmir and hearing that there are better songs on the album is exciting news i'll have to listen to the discog of led zep sometime soon, maybe i'll do it this weekend when i get some downtime

rain song and no quarter own ownw own but i can't stand robert plant's singing on that album, it ruins songs that i'd otherwise like (the song remains the same, the ocean) and pushes the ones that i don't like (the crunge, jermaicer) way over the edge. geddy fuckin lee was less shrill.
