I'm not sure the platforming ever held up. I think it was always considered to be a typical Double Fine game: charming, quirky and original, but with mediocre gameplay.

It's still the best Double Fine game though.

Just a general tip; Don't pick Faye (or Cain when you get him). You'll get stuck with both of them for a stretch of the game. Rachel and Charles are the two you get the fewest opportunities to pick, incidentally. You'll need to get everyone's trust level up into the fourth bar for the "Good" ending.

Completely at random I picked Faye and Cain just before the sequence where you get stuck with them and I wondered for the longest time if that was because I picked them at the start or what. You definitely want to make sure you pick the other three in the beginning if you care about powergaming to the best ending the first time through.

For the new steam day sale:
Van Helsing 2 was a pretty well done arpg. The skill tree seemed a little...kitchen sink-ish and not cohesive as far as how to unlock relevant paths, but there's a shitton of things to unlock and it practically begs to be played a second time in order to get them (I did not play it a second time).

Lots of items/weapons and crafting/enchanting and looty things and stuff if that's your thing, but I'm not really one to judge that in depth.

I thought the story aspect was fine and entertaining enough (nothing great, but a little better than teh nrom for these things) and the presentation was pretty freaking stellar. Your characters have nice levels of banter and your ghost buddy is pretty cool. You can get a pet that's pretty cool and actually helps you.

I thought it was better polished than VH1 - and I enjoyed it. It had *optional* tower defense things, and I thought they were fun, and it also had some elements of base building/keep upkeep things.

I'd say it's a totally fun arpg. Well done.

Hmmm Child of Light is $7.50 in the Humble Sale but it's Uplay rather than Steam...... otherwise I don't think any other games were added to their sale, it's mostly the same catalog from yesterday.

Think about it this way: if a game is on Uplay, it's gonna open it whether you have it on Steam or not. Go for it, dude.

This is what stopped me playing it because i didn't know there was a fix at the time (lowering the resolution). The game is somewhat playable without the map, but it's not easy.

Isn't that game really hard for people who have no idea about programming though? I heard a complaint that it doesn't really bother to teach you stuff so you're either having fun because you know what the hell or you hit a solid wall.

The hardest parts are basically simplified html. Most of the "programming" is changing variable values and its pretty intuitive.

prison architect is also in the humble store for $10 alone so if you're gonna buy it might as well get the extra poo poo. I already have gunpoint, papers please and hammerwatch and I don't want gone home but I do want luftrausers so maybe I'll just wait and see what they add next week.

Dang that's a good bundle. Went for $10 just because that's the cheapest prison architect has ever been and all of the other good games there are just icing on the cake.

Steamworld Dig barely gets any notice and isn't the best game there but it's still a fun little platformer/adventure/digging game that people should try out.

Also on the Humble Store Monaco is 1.49. And Euro Truck Simulator DLC is 2.49 which is the cheapest I've seen.

And in Steam news, I can't get the store pages to load at all.

Prison Architect has had pretty substantial updates every month since it started early access, except for one month which was dedicated to fixing bugs. Even at this point it holds up as a pretty good (sandbox) game in my opinion.

Already have most of the games, but I really want Luftrausers and 10 bucks seems like a good price point for me to cave and finally get Prison Architect. I know it's EA but the devs have released good products so far and I've been itching for a Dwarf-lite. It was either PA or Gnomoria and this makes the choice easy.
