That and you can easily monetize that sort of original content, unlike the actual abridged videos where using footage owned by other parties is a rather unstable state without making money off it.

Ok guys, I just discovered something pretty weird on one of my old videos, and since "Third Party Matched" issues have been discussed before, I figured I'd ask and see if anybody has come across something like this. The deal is this, that video I made for a Challenge thread here in LP THREE YEARS AGO, had a Third Party Matched claim filed on it early last year, by UMG for A Whole New World. At the time, they just muted the video, but left it up. Ok fine whatever (it WAS approx. 9 minutes or so). But upon looking through my videos, I noticed that for some reason it had recently been dropped down to 0:00 length. I figured they just removed it or something, but NOPE. Still plays the first second, and still shows up in search results. Here's what the content matched page looks like:  Clicking the "Blocked In Some Countries" link just refreshes the page, and clicking on the "remove the song" link, takes me to the audio editing page. The only problem with this is that since the song happened around 6:42 in the approx. 9 minute long video, and that for whatever reason the video is 0:00 now, it gives me an error, and I can't edit poo poo. No big loss here (the video was funny  ), but I'm just wondering if this is a random glitch, or if others have encountered something like this before?Bonus: For reference on how weird and hosed up the YouTube Third Party poo poo is, here's one that I just found out about on an old YTMND video I did way the gently caress back when. Somebody actually filed a claim on the SFX I used for the video as "Porn Music W/ Girl Making Noises"...hahaha. Seriously. YouTube, never loving change.

If I made a whole new account and pretended it was someone else's video that I found it'd be totally okay but since I made the video and I'm posting the video it's self-promotion and thus against the rules. What a bunch of garbage. I'm glad reddit is the only site that operates in this manner because it makes absolutely no sense. I wasn't even posting a Let's Play, just a game video I made! The idea is you're supposed to contribute on other people's content rather than drive by, drop your stuff and then bugger off again, similar reasons to the youtube dump rule here. Leave some feedback on other people's posts or whatever. The lp subreddit is kind of a lost cause, but it's not a terrible idea by itself.

You really need someone to have to explain the concept to you? Their entire prospect of that rule is that you are not supposed to post content you made on a site about posting content. That's how non-descriptive it is; if you post something you made, it's self-promotion if a mod decides it is and the planets and stars have aligned just in the right spot to poo poo on you. I can understand keeping people from spamming entire let's plays in 5 minutes but I didn't do that, I posted one video and apparently that was too many for them. I did not sign up for reddit to mingle with the community, I signed up for reddit to post about my video game videos on the Post About Video Game Videos subforum. Making it a requirement to have to post about other peoples' things before you can post your own thing is stupid. The good news is that now I have learned that I don't have any reason to post videos on reddit so at least something good came out of this venture. It's not like it's a massive deal, I just think it's a dumb rule because how are you supposed to get your stuff out there in the first place if you can't post about it? You're not allowed to post about videos at all, now, except in the thread where you're permitted to post your own video for feedback (and required to post feedback on someone else's), and the thread where you're permitted to post about what you're currently watching. Most of the threads that are allowed to remain are about tech support or subscriber counts. There's also a separate subreddit where you can happily post your videos, but nobody will see it because nobody wants to wade through a huge pile of video links.

I went on a mini-journey across Youtube to see if I could find any good foreign language Let's Players within the timespan of about an hour I set for myself. Lo and behold, I found a Japanese guy that goes by Gatchman666 who tends to do Let's Plays of horror games. From the (2) different LPs I saw from him, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of quality control he keeps in his videos. I half expected him to overreact during his P.T. videos, but he actually seems more focused on making a good playthrough than having sudden spikes in microphone audio. In his Last of Us LP, he even demonstrated what he was able to do when he came up to one of the game's set-pieces, that he'd get a game over if he attempted to tackle it with one method, and proceeded to finish it in the most efficient way. He even didn't gab over any of the cutscenes. He does have a few technical problems, though. The aspect ratio and video quality options tend to jump around between video series. Also, for some of the PC games he did, he didn't have any capture software and resorted to using a (albeit good) camcorder. All that considered, he is one of the more tolerable, that I've found, Youtube LPers that got started doing Slender videos.

I know this is more of a recommendations thread but does anyone know of a good Outlast LP? My standards are low so I'll probably be good with whatever as long as it doesn't have (or at the very least focus on) scarecam silliness. Ugh this dude has one but I am but an english speaking gaijin
