I'm having to fight these mouth breathers at every god drat step! The culture here was just amazing. People used their company laptops as home devices and this was actually encouraged as a "perk" for the longest time. So we have different model Alien Wares and HP's and Lenovos all floating around with god knows what. Honestly I'm amazed that I was able to even convince management that this change needed to be made. I think getting hit by cryptolocker a while back changed some minds. If they have more than 100 people, Bit9 may be something for them to look at. It's a software whitelisting system that pretty much stops malware cold. SHA-1 checksum doesn't match? YOU NO RUN NOW! Works amazing at the place I'm at. Malware jobs went from 3+ daily to maybe 1 per month. If it was available for single user machines, I'd buy a copy in a heartbeat.

They're sadists too. One of my colleagues was told "Get these exams[MCSE I think] done or the company loses its partner status". He did so, only to find out the next week that the exam was being retired and updated in 3 months. He was told to re-certify.

My outlook signature is 6 lines at size 8 text - just phone, address, and job title - and I still think it's too drat big. I don't understand while some people need giant abortions of text splattered all over everything they send, with some sweet clip-art smiley and inspirational quotes from some anonymous source.

It helped out my team today. A process dragged on so long that the original emails had all gotten eaten by retention and only my boss' hard copy was left. It wasn't a CYA type email so no one bothered to save it off or up the retention date but it still would have chewed up an hour of a few peoples time to remember what all was in the original email.

Thanks Ants posted:I couldn't tell you the last time I printed something that wasn't a shipping label. Haven't bought or leased a house recently, huh? Why these people insist on using 8.5x14 format and not adopting digital signatures is beyond me. In the year of our lord, 2014, I had both of these things happen. Both involved the creation of a login to a "secure messaging portal" so I could retrieve blank PDF documents that I then had to print out, sign or initial (or sign AND initial) then rescan and send back. We are talking over a hundred pages here. Of course since the pages were 8.5x14 each page took 2 pages to print. Even "this page intentionally left blank" pages. The kicker? I only used the secure portal to receive the blank forms. Once I had them filled out with all my personal credit information I was told to send them back via email. Cut to me having to explain why my documents were in an encrypted password protected zip file instead of a "regular PDF". And then having to explain to the poor document processing drone how to unzip something. In Windows. gently caress real estate transactions. Especially gently caress everyone involved in the refinancing process. Also, peter banana posted:"I'll connect with you on a regular cadence."
