Silver/White iPhone 6 128GB. I've only ever had black iPhones so I figured I'd switch it up. It should be here Friday.

Crazy Lead Holder Spree, wave 3

Staedtler 925-25-20

First impressions

Out the box this leadholder looks very tightly made. Like the Rotring 600 it’s got an aluminum barrel and some slight rattling but unlike the Rotring 600 it seems to super duper precisely machined and well thought out. Look at the brilliant interplay of finishes and textures on the end of the grip where the two metals meet. The knurling is small but deep and very precise.

The mechanism is knock-advance and works well. It has a degree indicator. The clip, by contrast to the extraordinary quality of the pen, seems less precisely made. Make note, though, that it stands out only because of how nice the rest of it is.

It’s got very good weight and balance. I put a blue lead in it because it seems fitting to the look and use of the leadholder.

Same here, though I went with the space gray of whatever they call it. I'm not all that concerned with the phone color since it will be in a case anyway.

Yup, iPhone 6s with contract are as follows:
16GB - $199
64GB - $299
128GB - $399

I thought about the same color switch, even to gold, but I decided to go with black since it's less ostentatious. Also went with the base 16GB model for $199:

Actually, the back looks a lot more grey than the black has been in the past.

I, too, just ordered the grey iPhone. I went for the 128 gig version as I have a lot of music. It was $399 on the two year contract with AT&T. They had a next plan, which turned out to be a ripoff. Basically you pay for the phone over time instead of up front. But it was $36 for 2 years, so $36 x 24 = $864.

Next is just a way to pay for the phone. It's not the service plan, which are called Mobile Value Share, but they're related through a rate credit, which I explain below. You don't have to give up your old plan, but you probably want to unless you have unlimited data.

Through the iPhone 3GS, you could tack on unlimited data for $30 to an existing, cheap voice plan. Starting with the 4, there was an interstitial period where carriers got rid of unlimited data, moved to combined voice/data plans, and raised prices. In the last year, they've switched to Next/Value Share, which is better than the interstitial period for many people. Instead of subsidizing the cost of the phone into the rate plan, you pay for the full unsubsidized price of the phone ($650 base model), but it's spread over 20/24 monthly payments. After 12/18, however, you can trade in your old phone and get a new phone. At any time, you can pay off the remaining value on the phone to keep it, which you might do if you can sell it for more than the remaining value. In return, you're contract-free and pay a lower monthly rate than the interstitial period due to a $15/mo credit or $25/mo if you have a 10GB+ plan.

I am going to assume you are referring to the extra $15 dollars that you are paying versus buying it for the retail price of 849.99.

It is sketchy to do that but is far from a ripoff.

Edit : Also I think your numbers are off. I did the 64gb model and my payments over 24 months come to the exact price of the phone at retail

First impressions:

Classic. The closest of the lot to the antecedent rapidomatic design both in shape and form as well as materials; not to mention it’s from the same company.

The printing is crisp and clean, the knurling is medium by comparison. Great fit and finish. Feels good in the hand though lightweight.

I like this one the most out of the lot, so far.

Every time I see these expensive pencils and you guys saying how amazing the 80s ones were, I'm reminded of how many of said 80s ones I must've broken or lost at school that belonged to my Dad who was a draftsman. He had drawers full of them at work I had no idea they cost so much.
I really wish I'd taken better care of them. :negative:

I have my grandfather's Staedtler 2mm lead holder that I use all the time, it's probably 40-50 years old and still in perfect condition, if a little dirty. I'm a modern-day draftsman and I've thought about taking it to work, but I'd be heartbroken if anything ever happened to it. This lead holder porn is making me want to get nice one to keep at work now, thanks.

Probably the best purse I've ever owned. It was an impulse buy because it was on sale (still is) and I just absolutely love it. It expands in case you need more room and it's waterproof enough that I don't worry about the contents getting wet unless I'm in a serious storm.
