Rorahusky posted:Back before Enemy Within came out, that Muton used to be a Chryssalid. Fun times running into one of those on your first Council Mission. It's still one on Easy/Normal, and I stand by a Muton being more threatening. Chryssalids have less health and where and when it appears in the mission actually makes it pretty easy to just waste as soon as it appears without it ever taking an action.

As a Mech Zhang is actually supremely useful, he's got a high aim stat and he turns into a Heavy subclass of mech, which is the most useful in my opinion, as its special ability is making the nearest visible alien have -20 aim. That said, his high willpower will also make him very useful for something ELSE later on too...

How much can you customise a MEC to look like a large angry panda bear as a joke?

Zhang has been the MVP in my group and a personal favorite. His motivation was: "Seriously guys, we're getting invaded and you're having a bidding war? gently caress you all." Leave him as is, every motley crew need the sane badass to be baffled by the absurdity of it all.

Zhang for pure humanity, he's too smooth to get meld spilled on him. Though if he gets a critical injury, chop him up.

Yeah, leave him be. Gene-mods if anything. Leave his hair color as-is, too, and have everyone else be immensely jealous.

I don't know much about Zhang, but this LP has recently got me back into playing XCOM. I think I'm gonna join the chorus of Badass Normal.

Don't know anything about this game other than what the LP is saying, but chopping up and attaching hyper advanced irreplaceable tech to a double agent you literally just met seems like a winning move to me. Go for mecha-triad dude.

Yes. I didn't know the Friends in Low Places Muton has a regular plasma rifle instead of an LPR. They don't usually get those until June.

MEC him.

Keeping him a normie sounds best. The grizzled veteran always plays his part best when he's a little removed from the craziest action. And not only can Zhang do the late-game thing, but he can also do the end-game thing. I don't really get the hate for him myself; his characterization is completely limited to the one mission we just saw (and unique action lines, oh boy) and it's easy enough to just bury him on the deployment chart if you want.

Voting for Zhang to be normal. He's got the skills to be successful without undergoing genetic modification or mech suit surgery. Plus, I don't know, something about Zhang makes it seem like he would be opposed to either one. He's spent years as a Triad, relying on his own skills to survive. I don't think he would want to tarnish the success he's had by during into some super solider. He'd like to kick rear end as a regular dude to prove a point.

Don't chop Zhang's limbs off, unless he get critically wounded. Zhang gets a lot of hate, somehow. I liked the guy, he's always been very solid in my runs! Well, in the runs he don't get killed by a freak accident, like a panicking rookie or two mutons throwing grenades in his face while wounded. In three out of five games that were Ironman Impossible, he's never survived ...certain events following this mission, always due to some freak accident. I think he's cursed, for me.

Simply on the basis that him and Eva are the only two heavies you have at the moment, I'd be tempted to keep him normal for now. Of course, if he does get critically wounded...
