Does anyone who's a dev know what the differences or what would appear stretched with a 4" iOS app that utilizes elements on an iPhone 6? Does the current iPhone Simulator allow you to see?

They're the same aspect ratio, so no stretching, only scaling up. You could probably see on the simulator once Xcode 6 is released.

I restored the phone and ran a clean install all day and it would work for an hour then freak out every now and then. I took it to an Apple Store and had it looked at. They managed to replicate it when I checked in but the specialists couldn't get it to do it. At least one of them got to see it so I got a screen replacement for free even though it was out of warranty yet again. So pretty stellar service and I'm once again with a working phone. Hopefully it won't kill itself before November when I can finally upgrade.

This was from the period where Motorola had essentially forgotten (and had altogether given up on learning, too) how to make any phone that wasn't a RAZR. And yes it had micro USB and mini HDMI. Mini HDMI was for some reason the hip thing to put on Android phones in 2010.

Why would there ever be a need for a phone to have HDMI out? Im imagining a business exec type plonking his phone on the table, connecting to a projector to play his spreadsheets and power points awkwardly until the battery ultimately fails and he just gets out his Dell laptop anyway.

Forgot it had mini HDMI. I clearly remember when it got gingerbread and became the buggiest poo poo phone around. I'm kind of grateful though because I held onto that phone until the iPhone came to Verizon and have had an iPhone ever since.

FAT SLAMPIG posted:Wow, The Verge really liked the camera in the 6+. On a related note, I find The Verge tolerable, but this photo from one of their earliest reviews, about Google Glass, encapsulates everything wrong with them: Joshua Topolsky probably thinks he looks SO cool in this photo, but it's actually incredibly lacking in self awareness. And that deafness permeates all their reviews, especially when it comes to featured snippets: "SCALED APPS ARE COMEDY GOLD, IF YOU THINK BIG THINGS ARE FUNNY". That said, they're useful for early reviews, which I guess is worth something.

He actually left the verge for Bloomberg not too long ago. Nilay Patel is the editor in chief now. The verge is an alright site to me. They get called Apple fanboys in the comments of their articles pretty frequently but they've been pretty positive towards nexus phones and android in the past. Anyways, for some serious reviewing have to wait for Anandtech's reviews.
